It's so simple. I love connecting this way, because it connects within a fraction of a second. IMO VZAccess Manager is way too bloated, especially if you're in a hurry and/or a power user.
Enjoy
IMPORTANT: Be sure to UNINSTALL VZAccess Manager before attempting this. Reboot after the uninstall completes.
BE SURE YOU HAVE THE VZACCESS MANAGER CD AND/OR DOWNLOADED VZACCESS MANAGER FILE AVAILABLE IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG.
These instructions are for Windows XP. I hate Vista, but the only information you really need is the phone number, which is #777 to complete Vista's process to create a dial-up connection. Be sure to leave the username and password fields blank. Everything else, you can use the defaults.
Start > Network connections > New connection wizard or Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network Connections > New connection wizard
1. Click "Connect to the Internet" , next 2. Click "Set up my connection manually" , next 3. Click "Connect using a dial-up modem" , next 4. Enter ISP name (Can be anything) , next 5. Enter #777 for the phone number , next 6. Leave username and password fields blank, and make sure that you uncheck the first box (Use this account name and password ...) , next 7. (optional) click add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop , finish
Double click on the shortcut you created. If it's not on the desktop, simply go to start > network connections , then click on the connection you just created.
Once the connect screen is up, delete anything that may be in the Username and/or Password field. It's not needed. Check the box marked "Save this username ..."
Click dial, and you're done
And yes, it's much faster.
