Sorry you have had issues in the past with PVS, but with any company, you get good employees and ones not so good, unfortunate, but as a company I have a lot of respect for Pvs.

If you are still getting a echo, let me know. I suppose problems come up now and then, that will disappear on their own, but if it continues, let me know

urbanriot : So a PVS contractor came by and hooked me up to my new Cogeco Digital Home Phone Service. Normally I have little to no respect for the PVS Contractors, but this guy got in here, plugged it all in the way I wanted, zipped through it in less than an hour. Great job!

My first few calls had an annoying echo that I occasionally hear on my mobile, but that seems to have gone away. So far, I'm really pleased with the service.

casscarr2002, thanks for mentioning in the other thread about requiring two modems if you have a split account. If I hadn't mentioned that, he wouldn't have noticed and I would've been stuck with home internet for lord knows how long.

Cogeco, if you're going to be forcing people to switch to business accounts to get above the cap because you don't have adequate packages for your customers, please ensure these setup guys are trained to check if they need a secondary modem for home phone on a split account. I would have gone ballistic if I had to use 'home' internet for a week.

casscarr2002 : I'll have to inquire myself as I just moved from Primus to Cogeco Home phone while having a business soho account. But I wonder if my Cable works in the bundle with the Home Phone, I'll have to check my bills when I get home tonight. I also locked in for 12 months and use the Business soho for the higher caps as well. I'll see what I come up with when I get home.
The technician on the phone and the technician that showed up friday after wednesday's home phone install (after connecting me through a residential package somehow and turning my business line off to get the phone working) did mention to me at least I needed 2 modems, the big Voip modem and the the small modem to support the business line. I think Krispy was confirming whether this was really a need or not.
--
Rampage Formula/Xeon Quad X3360 @ 4.14Ghz/GSKill HZ's/8800UltraExtreme 683-2.34Ghz/Coolit Freezone Elite Water/TEC Cooler/TT Armor VA8003BWS w/25cm Intake fan/Antec Quattro 1000

urbanriot : Update: Through a combination of good advice from a guy in the business area, a super nice woman in the home sales area, some account oddities and powers of persuasion (or luck) I was able to bundle my Business Internet with Home Phone service, and lock in at the home rate.

From the way things went though, I don't think that would be possible for everyone, which is kind of unfortunate for other people that want the same configuration and are doing it for the higher cap.

I was also told the price is going up $5 as of tomorrow, so I locked in for 12 months.

urbanriot : I asked a question in another thread, but it might have been missed... but now I have more questions.

I currently have the Business Soho accout to get around the ridiculously low cap.

a) Home phone is $44.99 for bundle, $54.99 for standalone. Can I bundle home phone with my business account, since I have the internet in my home and my sole reason for having business is the cap?

b) Business is $69.95 for bundle. Do you get anything more from the $20 extra for business than you do from the home account? More reliability or quality of service? Or guaranteed uptime?

c) If I have business internet and go with home phone, as another thread pointed out, will I need two modems? If I go with business phone, with my business internet, will I also need two modems?
