For music I much prefer Musicmatch Jukebox Pro. They have a free version but for 19.95 you can download the pro version. If you do watch for the box that signs you up for free upgrades for life. That is a $30 option and easy to miss. If you miss it just write them and they take your license back down to pro as purchased. Good people to work with!

I'm using Power DVD. I'm very happy with it, plays all kind of media files and do editing. I like the interface.

Quicktime is my favorite but I hate how it always asks if I want to buy the Pro version.

I bumped into this during my browsing and marked it for later evaluation. I have not tried it yet, but looks interesting.

I'm currently trying out QuickTime as an alternative to WMP.

My first observation is that watching movie trailers on QT at best resolution takes more than my 520Kbps (actual) DSL can deliver, while the best resolution WMP was able to steam OK. However, it looks like the quality of the best QT may be better than the best WMP. I'm thinking about buying QTPro to check out the additional features.

RioPort Audio Manager 3 would be a great choice. The new version comes with the ability to play WMP video. It play's audio superbly. Give it a shot. I've been using RAM for about 2 years now and have been quite pleased with it's performance. Just scroll down to the free download link.

So far QT v5 has been rock-solid on my Win2K PC.

BTW jabbawest I've actually been to Wylie. Used to go to the Corvette shop just west of town. I remember driving by JR's ranch to get there. That was over 10 years ago.

I currently use QT4.0Pro, MusicMatch 6.0(unregistered), WinAmp Lite(I have 2.x around here somewhere), and Realplayer 8.0.

I use QT for streaming News Broadcast and Winamp for EuroTrance and listen to Digitally Imported.com's site they have WMA but it is always offline and I only have WMA 7.0 I had 8.0 and did not like it, took to long to load and I am only running on a 266Mhz machine. =(
