The new install won't work and you will be completely unprotected because you will have lost all the previous updates that you downloaded.<br>If you have uninstalled, quickly look for another free Anti-virus to install while AVG clears up the problem.]]></description>

Installed into my toolbar. Nightmare! I had to pay 49.95 because it said I had 40 trojan horses, spyware, adware corrupting my computer. The balloons kept popping up. I uninstalled antivirus o8, but it was still on toolbar. Avg was working fine. spyzooka took care of it. However today, my avg was all screwed up. I uninstalled, ran spyzooka scan, then tried to reinstall. no luck But when i tried uninstalling avg free then reinstall "a. bin is missing" kept coming up. <br><br>you saved my ass....i am keeping my fingers crossed.<br><br>BEWARE ANTIVIRUS 08.]]></description>

If you're old enough to remember DOS, then you remember the "dir" command that showed you a list of all the files in a dir-ectory. Not sure who came up with "folders" first, Apple or MS. My guess is Apple, with the first real GUI and the cute idea of making an icon that looks like a paper file folder and having it represent a directory.<br><br>Ahh, life before GUIs and mice.]]></description>

In otherwords, not being able to get this update will not make your AVG Free ineffective and as soon as AVG Tech resolves the issue you will be able to update to the current virus definitions at that time.<br><br>The main problem is the AVG update program. So for the meantime if you want your AVG to be updated you need to update it manually and download the update manually. Until the AVG tech resolved this kind of issue]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1143582"><b>Thane_Bitter</b></A> : Yes, same issue.<br>Apparently there is an issue with one of the update files, specifically "u7iavi1616oo.bin", as such AVG has pulled the file from public download.  AVG is aware of the issue and is working to correct the matter.<br><br>Reinstalling will not resolve the issue - just wait a day and try updated tomorrow.  :hmm:<br><br>LadyL, you are missing about one months worth of updates.  The full install (Windows: 8.0.138) was put up back on July 4th. :(<br><small>--<br>...A bitter ray of sunshine</small>]]></description>

It's driving me crazy!!!  :( I did a system restore and that stupid .bin thing still shows up. :( Uninstalled the AVG, cleanedup all the files pertaining to AVG that I could, rebooted, and then reinstalled the AVG software again. STILL having that .bin problem. I'm unprotected as far as the software is concerned.<br>HELP!!!!!<br>Found this:<br><br>on the freeforum.avg.com site...something about the Manager being corrupted and there is no fix as yet (they're working on it)...but all should be still protected from previous updates.<br>I just re-installed the software...my defs are at 1533...so am I still protected? <br><small>--<br>Lonnie</small>]]></description>
