Re: Avg says .bin missing when updating

Well, that's all well and good, but I can't figure out how to make a directory to my desktop???? Think I'll just wait until AVG resolves the problem, unless someone can explain to me how to do it.

Use Windows Explorer and click on the FOLDER button. Highlight Desktop and you should see all of the files/folders in the right pane that are on your desktop.

File --> New --> Folder then it will have you name the folder.

In this case folder = directory.

Well duh!! I kinda thought he meant make a "folder", not a directory! And you can just right click on the desktop to make a folder.

Folder is the MS way of saying directory. I would rather say directory as calling it a folder confuses most people it seems to me.

Really? Well, I'm not a geek, but I've never heard them called directories before; well I've heard of directories but didn't think they were one and the same with folders. When you go to make a new one, it doesn't say new "directory", says new "folder". Don't most people use a windows operating system?

Directories were used for many, many years before MS came along with Win95 or 98 and MS decided to call them folders. I went to college in '93 and in the basic computing classes they were still called directories.

Now that I think about it, you are right! I'm pushing 60 and I suffer from CRS - 'can't remember shit'!!! Talk about things that drive you nuts!
