Crash27 : I have a Dlink 624 and I find that it sometimes copies the same IP as my PC that I am using under the Clone field and It will not let me connect. I just change the last digit and it works fine and also gives me a new IP any time I want. Works great for getting back on sites LOL !

[SW Ontario] Router Configuration/Invalid MAC Address

anon : I recently switched from a local DSL provider to Cogeco Cable Internet. Although I am very happy with the speed increase, I have found it impossible to get connected through my router. :(

I have a D-Link DI-524 router which worked fine with DSL. I have changed my WAN settings to DHCP instead of PPPoE and filled in Cogeco's primary and secondary DNS addresses. I leave the MAC Address field blank as it is optional. However, I am not able to connect to any websites.

If I do clone my MAC address, the router produces a message telling me that my MAC address is invalid or in the wrong format, despite the software automatically cloning it.

WTF?!?!

On the one hand, it would appear D-Link is at fault due to the error message regarding the MAC Address, yet it should connect without the MAC Address in the first place.

Any help on this issue would be appreciated.
