He told me my line was "unable to ever receive the 1.5 service". My question to him was that If it is unable to receive the service, how come for 2 months I had a working 1.5/756 connection? He couldn't answer and again informed me that CT was unable to provide me the promised service so I was "downgraded".

Combine this with the fact that before I moved here, I was promised the 15/1mb tier service then told they got the address wrong when promising me the service with the against my will service downgrade and I am not a happy camper. If there were any other choices in my area (Rural Kila) I would be ditching CT at this point and switching, however I am not going to Wild Blue sat net nor does Bresnan run their cable lines out here, so I guess I am stuck with crappy service and Techs who don't want to attempt to find a solution to my problems.

Icon, I wish you were the tech around here. If they give you lip about it, ask them if they would just rather give it a shot, or have you keep calling in repeat trouble tickets on them.

I ran into it again today. Had a resort who had a NID just like yours, and could only do 896 K and an snr of around 6, even with a whole house splitter in the NID. I swapped it out with a new box and splitter, and the margin shot up to a 14. So I got a CO tech on the line and was able to get them back up to 1408, with an 11 downstream margin.
Relorian : Ok went out to my outside phonecompany box. I see nothing I could connect to. All thats out there is a box with a a bundle of wires in it, with only 2 connected. A twisted pair of blue/white wires to a top junction. Theres 5 other slots that are empty but nothing that looks connectable to via conventional wires as I know them.

I did however test on every port in the house with the modem/laptop. All of them come up as the same stats posted previously. The last time there was a horrid sync/speed problem the CTel truck fixed it at the green box down the dirt road.

Instructions on how to tap the outside box to test with modem/computer would be helpful if you think thats where the problem may be. If not, any other advice would be helpful. Im starting to consider having the CTel truck come out again to check the other box.

Relorian : Anyone know whats going on with the DSL in the Kila/outwards Kalispell Montana area?

I was getting 1.5/756 for the past month (Using Westell 6100/Netgear router) then this week something changed. My speed is now sitting at 1mbps/30-45k durring the days.

I realize that we've had some hot weather and I've been told on Cable setups that weather can effect speed, but I dont have any ideas as to if it effects DSL.

All I do know for sure is that I am not happy. Between the Fubar on my install (Was promised 15mbps service, was told "Yes its available in Kila) then found it wasnt and that 1.5 was the TOP i could get and NOW the speed drops, I really am NOT a happy camper. I can barely surf the web and forget gaming, I get timed out constantly or lag dropped.

So any CTel employees got any info on whats going on? Also any intel if we in Kila will be getting faster speeds anytime in the near future because 1.5 is nice and all... but not for gaming.
