No phone line inside the house, just from the box connector (there's a splitter there) and then a phone cable that came with the modem is running to my modem inside.

HiDesert : Well, I guess you could do what some try and that is to connect your modem directly to the entry box going to your house. If that works then you know its the house wiring or configuration. The randomness of your problem makes it harder to get qwest to fix the issue. But I would eliminate your house wiring first. Kind of sounds like some kind of interference. I remember 10 years back I had a clearwire wireless internet that would randomly drop my connection. Never could figure that one out. Also, there is a newer firmware that suppose to resolve issues with the m1000 and 7 meg service.. so if you have a m1000, make sure you have the
QA02-3.60.3.0.8.2-M1000 firmware.

opterongeek : Nevermind, she changed it back, but they keep saying that I'm not stable at 7 meg (I am, actually) but between noon and 2pm the connection drops. It only occurs during that time of day, so I don't know what could be going on.

We're trying another modem (it will be here in a couple days) but this is getting stupid. I had PERFECT service from them for 4 years and now suddenly it's turned into shite.

opterongeek : We had knocked my DSL down to the 3 meg plan to try to figure out what was going on, but we're having the same problems with the 3 meg plan, so I want to try a new modem, but now Qwest swears that the 7 meg plan is not available at my house.

I've had it for the past year, paid for it for the past year, and have bills showing that it was the 7 meg plan. Why can't I get it again?

The tech on the line told me that a field tech is who switches that on or off, but can't get me back on to the higher speed again.

Does this company WANT me to sue them for idiocy? Good lord...
