| No GSM for me (for now)
I won't be changing to a GSM phone any time soon, at least not while I still have my sweet $35 SERO plan with Sprint. If that went away and a GSM provider offered a reasonably priced plan, and if their name doesn't include the initials A, T, or the "&" sign, then I'd consider the switch.
Until that happens, I'll just have to continue waiting for Android on CDMA. Hopefully HTC will get to work on a CDMA version of the Dream so my wait won't be too terribly long!

I made that mistake trying out GSM. I have a Touch on $30 SERO and 3 family SE lines with Instincts. |

| GSM isn't synonymous with ATT. I've been a happy tmo customer for a good while now, and it's nice being able to switch out SIM cards when I go overseas - something I can't do with Sprint or VZW.
Call quality on my phone is also pristine on TMO's network. -- "What makes us omniscient? As for sprint and great call quality, thanks for the laugh. |

As for sprint and great call quality, thanks for the laugh. You probably had some shitty phone from Sprint; I've personally had nothing but stellar service from them for the last four years straight. My one and only complaint is the new 5 GB EVDO cap.
As for AT&T and great anything, thanks for the laugh.

There's no competing with the ease of being able to move your services from phone to phone simply by replacing cards. While not quite as convenient as a SIM card, Sprint has the capability to provision phones on their website, but I haven't used it yet. I believe Verizon does as well, but I can't say for sure.

As for sprint and great call quality, thanks for the laugh. No. They had some shitty codec called AMR-Half Rate and an over loaded network. Sprint uses a good codec and technology using CDMA and the EVRC codec. Oh and after going through $100 + phones with AT&T such as an LG CU515 and AT&T Tilt and the call quality is crap + everyone else here's call quality is crap and the fact that they run Half Rate all the time proves it is complete crap. Don't even get me started on my experience with their great "3G" technology either. |

Mine doesn't show up yet and I am scared I have been going over the cap now. But the cap doesn't really bother me since every other provider is doing it. It still upsets me. |

But the cap doesn't really bother me since every other provider is doing it. It still upsets me. It does. I average less than 100 MB a month (I use it pretty sparingly), but when I'm out of town I usually rely on EVDO much more heavily for connectivity. Curiously, I never received the notice about the caps, and it's still showing "unlimited" in my data usage report...

| reply to iLive4Apple Well, that jives with my experiences working with AT&T's leased circuit services as well; I'm often forced to deal with them on DS1 and DS3 transport issues. AT&T has to be the worst when it comes time to get anything done (followed by Verizon Business). It's hilarious when you're on a conference call with two different AT&T departments and they are arguing with each other about not being able to do something. Good times!
I absolutely dread having to deal with AT&T, for either personal stuff or because of work.

| reply to Done_Posting All of sprints phones are shitty duh, in fact all provider phones suck, power users buy unlocked gsm phones.. oh wait you don't have that option because you're with one of the few and I do mean few cdma providers in the world.
At&t has been stellar here in NYC, I see you're from Ohio so that explains much |

| reply to iLive4Apple Fact:Amr-HR is the equivalent to EVRC Fact:AMR-HR sounds more like CDMA EVRC
AT&T & T-mobile towers only push out Half-Rate when the tower is overloaded, They have been putting up extra towers over the past 3 years. Other than that it pushes out full rate and the call quality is very good.
Get your facst straight and change your avatar to show people you are not a sprint shill. |

Get your facst straight and change your avatar to show people you are not a sprint shill. Fact. CDMA has soft handoff's where GSM has hard handoff's. Fact. AT&T doesn't know how to build a 3G network along with T-Mobile. AT&T's 3G can't compare to VZW and Sprint's EVDO. EVRC sounds as good or better than AMR-FR. AT&T around here doesn't belong in the wireless network, their stupidest decision was to run W-CDMA on 1900 on a tower layout spaced for 850mhz. Truth is, each provider has it's goods and bads. Here at least, Sprint and VZW are the leaders in wireless. AT&T may be good other places, but I have not run into a time where my AT&T phone automatically runs AMR-FR. |

AT&T runs 3.5 G now, hspda is much better and faster than evdo, various speedtests results easily obtainable through google prove this. Where evdo excels is broadband penetration, and that's mainly with verizon not sprint.. VZW wins is in it's broadband penetration, AT&T did not plan well as far as 3g comes, but it's not like they are not building towers.
EVRC does not sound good as AMR-FR, do you not get this part? It's the technology.. no matter what you say it will never change this fact. HR is what competes with EVRC
FR is on another level, and this is why globally cdma is playing catchup. |
