Done. Ok, I can confirm the change of the transition animation between music list and cover flow view in the iPod app. I liked the old way better, but no big deal. Now it just fades and does not rotate anymore.
Can you elaborate? Does not rotate?
When you are in iPod mode and an album cover is on the screen, in the upper right corner is the song list button which will show the songs on that album. There is an animation that rotates the album to show the list and vise versa. Hope that makes sense

If I understood you correctly, Hookem99 See Profile, that's not it. AFAIK what you described has been there since day one on the first iPhone and still exists, even in 2.0.2. What I meant was the transition animation between going from list view to cover flow view. It used to rotate by 90 degrees as it faded when you switched between the two modes. Now there is no rotation. It just fades from list to cover flow and back.

I actually recorded a video of this for fun with my digicam. If I figure out how the heck to share it with you guys, I will.

My bad, thanks for clearing that up. Would love to see the video!

Before update...
-When looking at the artist list and rotating the phone, there would be a 'lag' and then the screen would rotate into cover flow with more lag

After update
-Turning the screen causes a much faster fade-out/fade-in with no lag (into cover flow).

--------

One little tiny step, but a nice improvment!

I don't really understand why apple do not publish a fix list even a vague one.
They do it for osx changes, Sony do it for ps3 firmware updates.
It is rather arrogant of them to think they can afford to give such easy fuel to their critics.
Because they don't want folks like you to niggle at the accomplishments. Nor should they. Shut up and love your iPhone already..

No worries! Just thought I'd clear up what I meant. I'm getting iLife 08' as we speak. Will see if iMovie will help me edit this damn thing and make it uploadable. I suppose I'll dump it on YouTube.

Weeeel, on my 2.0.1 right now, when I turn the phone from say, album list to cover flow, the list fades to the cover flow view without any rotation in the animation and vice versa. That's why I asked for the clarification. So mine does not have the rotation animation at 2.0.1.

Perhaps your video will help clear this up.

Er.. oops. In that case I may be wrong as well. According to my memory, there used to be an animation that included a rotation when switching from list to cover flow. Perhaps that changed in 2.0.1 already? Dang. My video will be no news to anyone then :/

EDIT
Forgot to say: but I'll post it anyway

Mine rotates in 2.0.1 when switching from list to cover.. So, no, it did not switch for me.. I'll know if it works the same in 2.0.2 in a few minutes..

Airplane Mode

I just learned a valuable lesson:

Don't update your phone while it's in Airplane Mode.

[I put my phone into Airplane Mode because inevitably, someone will call me while the phone is backing-up (which can take like 3 hours) or when it's syncing.]

My phone was stuck unable to activate afterward, because the phone's cellular radio was off.

The solution is the Slide for Emergency and type *#307* after which it will ask you if you want to disable Airplane Mode.

Once you disable Airplane Mode the signal strength bars will show-up and it will connect to WiFi if available. After reconnecting to iTunes the phone activated right away.

I found the solution here: »www.timespace.org/2008/08/05/ipo···n-issue/

I go to apply this update and I get "Your iPhone cannot be updated due to an unknown error."

What kind of shit is this?

Attemping to run the update again.

Well, yes, the display rotates to widescreen. I think what is being referred to is some rotation in the animation itself (which I do not see). Not sure exactly you meant though.

Not the same, but similar. Worth a look I guess. Good luck.

IPhone 3G is to be released on August 22 in many countries around the world.

That may be the reason for this latest update.
