[Rant] comcast is too expensive for the poor

There are too many poor people trying to survive and comcast has no interest in people and their monthly budget. Everyone should be able to get every channel at a low rate instead of paying different charges for different comcast channels. Give us a break today.

Re: comcast is too expensive for the poor

Ummm, why? Cable TV isn't a utility that everyone needs. It is a luxury for those who can afford it. I didn't always have a good paying job, and when I didn't I can tell you that I always chose food over cable TV. For years I only has the most basic cable with $20 channels, because that was the luxury I could afford.

I've seen many people in this country who feel they are entitled to have everything they want, when in fact you need to work hard to get what you want. We also need to stop thinking that mobile phones, internet, TV, the latest designer clothes and eating out every night are necessities when they are actually luxuries.

Well, of course, Cable should be free, So should the best steak restaurant in town, and while were at it how about Italian sports cars?

Cable is a not a necessity. You can still get OTA broadcasts for free, and will be able to in the future. If you are trying to make ends meet, and cant manage because of your cable bill, then get rid of cable!

Of course, the OP will never read any of this thread, and if she does, she wont have the guts to argue her point. Just another drive by venting.

Wow...
just...

wow.

While were getting stuff on the cheap, I'll have a 5000 sq. ft. house in the country on 15 acres, partially wooded please. And throw in a barn and a couple of paddocked pastures for my wife's horse.

I mean, if cable is a necessity, then so is a nice country estate.

Wow! You know, you should contact your local franchise authority IMMEDIATELY if their regulated pricing is that high! I've never seen it over $18 per month. How much cheaper do you want public cable?

Speaking of that: when will "internet" be regulated? Can I have that for free instead of useless TV?

Get a job. If income earned from your job can't help cover the cable bill, cancel the damn cable or get another job.

Problem solved.

Yes, it can be expensive, with all the premium channels and deluxe packages (HDTV, DVR, etc.)

But in some places of the country, basic Cable should be considered a utility. Where I live, if you don't have cable or satellite, you can't watch TV at all. The signals are so weak, all you get is a fuzzy screen with just a hint of what's being shown. And this is with a good set of rabbit ears.

So again, where does it state in the Constitution that Luxuries should be affordable? If you cannot pay the bills, then you do not need.

What places? Where does CATV put food on the table, pay rent to have shelter, or provide Heat & Electricity. Thanks for the laughs.

Ok, JC77, ill bite:

Heres the problem with your statement. most cable companies offer a "Basic" package with local channels for usually under $20 a month.

Show me a Electric Bill for a rural home that's under $20 a month.

Ever heard of READING????????????? I know it's not popular these days, but TV hasn't ALWAYS been around you know. People actually existed in this country without it....

If cable cost too much there's always pirate satellite TV. Spend ~$175 one time and no MRC.

You should try a better antenna with one of those digital converter boxes the government is giving out vouchers for.

What a load. I can afford cable, but I don't have it because I don't need or want it. Why should comcast be forced to give their product away for free. It isn't a need and nothing in your life depends on you being able to watch reruns of friends and 90210.

One of the ways you can overcome your poorness is to stop paying for things you don't need.

Quit being so poor already. When you reach lower middle class then you can start thinking about the extras like cable. Or car tire flower beds.

There is nothing good on cable tv your not missing anything at all unless you really really like watching the wifetime channel where people are having sex but only from the shoulders up every single day of the week until comcast goes out of business lol!!!

I hate those crappy channels they always have some family member conspiring against another or the wife against the husband etc. It's like some empty headed liberals are writing these shows to make consistent divorce look better.

Wraaaastlin sucks period, scifi and spike tv have so many commercials now I'm not sure when the show ends and the commercials begin and the weather channel is mostly commercials expecially when a big life threatening tornado or storm of any kind is overhead. The good ol radar of georgia channel is gone from analog tv sent to digital and now I think it's gone? I dunno cuz I still have an analog signal with no cutmeoffbeforeIcanpay box.

Cnn and propaganda news aren't worth a dam and lets see what's left? Oh yeah discovery channel and learning channel well... bit of a toss up there. I've grown bored of american chopper but I still like it enough to watch once every six months so I guess I could look at their website instead? The dirty jobs guy is just toooo dirty lol I can't watch it most of the time.

Whats important is the local news and weather. About the only thing left on tv is the stock market info and mad money so we can all see just how bad our country is being screwed financially by our OWN CITIZENS everyday yippeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes I wish that dow would go straight down to ZERO just so those uber rich global trade outsourcing to people that hate us sellouts would be almost as bad off as the rest of us.

Satellite paid or free is just worse with more crap on, lol 500 channels and nothing on haha!!!

I lived in a deep, narrow canyon in the mountains for 14 years, a place where only AM radio penetrated. There was no cable and no OTA reception, hence, there was no TV in the house.

I survived. So did my kids. So can you.
