 Turn off Automatic Update?

I prefer to let others 'test' new updates to MJ.
How do I:
1. Disable automatic update?
2. Manually check for udates?
3. Do the update manually, if available?

Thanks.

Related to this, I just had my first MJ update pushed to me. There was no message that I was being updated. I got the RC=3 "not connected to internet" message. I unplugged my jack and tried again a few times.

I finally started WireShark to see if I could figure out what was happening. I saw it make an http call for /upgrade/200807220000.exe

While I was looking at this, I suddenly got the MJ startup image in the center of my screen saying "Lucky you, you're being upgraded" (or something like that).

It appears it doesn't tell you you're being upgraded until *after* it downloads the .exe file. If you have a slow connection (as I do), all you see is the RC=3 error while it downloads. I just happened to leave the jack plugged in long enough for it to complete downloading.

You can fake out the DNS entry for the magic jack upgrade by modifying your hosts file so the update server DNS entry points to a local IP. Once you capture the update info, download the update & run manually. I'm not sure of any way of disabling the update checks.
