1 edit | If not for those pesky caps... ...3G mobile broadband card use would be overtaking the other methods. I'm sorry, 5 gigs a month isn't sufficient. At least allow the end-user to purchase extra capacity instead of cutting off their service.
Or maybe I'm just bitter because neither AT&T (nor anyone else, save for a limited Verizon coverage area) has 3G services here. It's pretty much 1xRTT (yuck) or EDGE (not much better...) |

I don't see this as being a good thing unless this will turn into network upgrades. I only have dial up, Verizon wireless or satellite in my area. Of course I went with Evdo. Even though I needed both an amp and antenna to get Rev-A.
In all honesty they need better rural coverage. Anyone that lives in the area were you don't need an antenna to get service I'm willing to bet they can get cable or dsl.
It upset me when I heard a guy at work saying he had bought a aircard. Just for his home use. Now he can clog up my line when he has better and cheaper alternatives. |

 | reply to BB_Hunter Uh, no. 1xRTT is about half the speed of EDGE on a good day. They're entirely different technologies running on top of two entirely different networks. |

You can't make all the people happy all of the time. But it should be common sense to shoot for the majority. |

 | Yeah, IPCS is mostly EDGE. Lots of small rural areas are still GPRS though.
AFAIK they have no 3G plans though they have said T-Mobile will allow them to use 1700MHz... |

That's because you're in IPCS territory. » www.ipcswirelessinc.com/about/map.php iPCS has EVDO in that area. iPCS is in the process of upgrading all sites to EVDO. They are also doing a massive buildout of the network. Many of the improvements thus far have been in IL and MI. |
