EPS join:2008-02-13 Hingham, MA | AT&T Broadband was an initiative of "the old" AT&T, not SBC, which became "the new" at&t after buying the remnants of "the old" AT&T. (I use uppercase and lowercase to distinguish the two) The problem was that AT&T had become bloated, and the cable/broadband division was a huge money pit- it was only after it was sold to Comcast that it became profitable. AT&T dumped it's wireless arm (the original AT&T Wireless) for the same reason. The long term plan was to also get rid of long distance and focus solely on providing business services- they weren't interested in TV.
at&t doesn't provide telephone services to the whole country, so why would they care about providing TV to the whole country? I doubt you'll ever see U-Verse outside of at&t's telephone service areas. |
