AT&T Yahoo Browser no longer available?

I've searched the forums but couldn't find any mention of this... I've noticed for the past 2 weeks that when clicking "Get AT&T Yahoo! Software" from the Yahoo Member Center, the AT&T Yahoo Browser is no longer available. ??

I've got clients who are used to using the custom browser since it's the only way that I know of to access their personal bookmarks, and it offers the ability to easily switch between e-mail accounts without having to re-enter a password.

??

att.yahoo.software.com/getbrowser

We have removed the direct link from the site but its still available to customers prior to April 2008. Eventually it will be totally removed. Yahoo will eventually stop updates for the browser - when this happens - AT&T will stop supporting it as well.

Hmmm. Link isn't working. It should be something.yahoo.com - but I couldn't figure out the sub-domain combination.

I don't personally use the browser. Most of my clients don't handle change very well. When I have to re-install Windows for a customer, they want to use exactly what browser they are used to - or else I'm going to get calls every other day with questions "How do I do this?...".

It would be nice to see some official published information from Yahoo stating that they are discontinuing the browser. If that's the case, it will be easier for my clients to understand that it's not my fault, and they will more easily transition to IE or FF.

Gently remind your customers that in the IT world change is always constant. With that said, if you have an old CD, or if one of your customers do, you can use that instead.

Found the link »att.software.yahoo.com/getbrowser

I wish I could find some kind of official notice on the Help pages that says it's no longer going to be supported. This page »helpme.att.net/article.php?item=5903 gives the link I posted above to get the software.

Ya - sorry about the link...my Dyslexia kicked in =). I said eventually no longer supported. Its still supported - hence the reason you can't find info on it. It could be another year...or just 6 months - who knows, but the browser is on its way out.

The reason? When IE7 came out - it basically does the main thing the Yahoo Browser does - tabbed browsing and multiple homepages. And remember - Yahoo Browser use the IE Shell...so its basically IE with different skin.

Since AT&T are working on their own browser it makes sense that they may try to implement it in the near future.

I hadn't seen or heard of PogoBrowser before - thanks for the link. Do you know if it's using IE for the rendering, or is it using it's own rendering engine? It looks cool, but it's not like we need another browser. I'm sure 90% of the users will use 10% of it's features.

yeah and using an old CD will also cause more problems than it is worth .. ie walking the customer through registering a new ID .. and also depending on how old putting outdated software on the pc.. when I worked at STS most of us advised the customer to place the CD in the round file.. my personal opinion is if Att in not making available the browser then there has to be a reason one I suspect is that since Yahoo never made the browser compatible with Vista , or really work well with IE 7 I thought this was coming. Fron a STS agent point of view it was a lot of hassle and very limited support from yahoo when you did make an escaltion to Yahoo. To me the software put too much crap on the computer and was not written to Microsoft's standards.. I also think Yahoo has piggybacked of ATT long enough, but thats my opinoinmaybe pogo with be better since I believe it is based off of firefox .. Iagree change is constant
