Click for full size
i found a way to make it last longer then 4 seconds(or about 20MB)
Timer starts at around 12mbit

timer speeds up at after 20mbit

30mbit gone fast in about 4 seconds

it starts

i did QOS to 15mbps it lasted

to the first 60 to 100megabytes

using netlimiter 2

avg speed was 1386.7KB for an 164MB file

or 11mbps

Hm, Powerboost in my tests has lasted for the full duration of a Linux ISO (700MB), which normally would be about 7 minutes came in at about 4 minutes.

This is not new technology. It was originally implemented by Motorola (General Instruments, actually before they were acquired by Motorola) in their Cybersurfr line of modems and CMTS, pre-DOCSIS.

Imagine a bucket. It holds your bandwidth allocation, measured in bits. There is a steady stream of bits going into the bucket at whatever your assigned speed is. The bits either flow out as you use them or overflow and are lost. How big is the bucket? RR doesn't say, but if you can download at 30 mbits on a 15mbit connection for f seconds, it must hold some thing like 60 mbits. The calculation: 4 secs x 30mbits - 4 secs x 15 mbits. In other words, in the first four seconds you used up the 60 mbits in the bucker plus the 60 mbits that you receive as an aadditional allocation in those same 4 seconds.

If you are frugal, the bucket is slower to empty.

He may not have another viable option (I don't) where he lives. As for his complaints about Powerboost, I don't get it at all. However long it lasts, its an improvement at no extra charge. I'll take all of those I can get.

4 seconds(or 30MByte) IS NOT an real upgrade
please comcast has 16mbps/2(or 17mbps/2.5 to count for overhead) in areas that have U-Verse

Okay, I will, Punker is what my mother liked to call a "complainer", these people find fault in everything.
If it's warm, they complain about the bugs(if there are any or not), the humidity(high OR low), or something else.
If it's cold, they complain.
He(assuming here) would find something to complain about with RR even if he got 1000MB, a latency to Sidney(that's in Australia)in the 10ms range, no Caps, and the cost was $20/mo.
