I paid full price ($59.99 US) but got a nice $20 Best Buy gift card.

Also - I don't know if it's only Best Buy, but they had a large stack of Force Unleashed T-Shirts and everyone gets one with the purchase of the game.

$20 Best Buy gift card and a free shirt. There is a lot in it that many would miss if they just put their head down and raced for the ATST.

In the tie hanger look up and not down at the troopers. Grab a tie fighter off the overhead rails, don't worry it will let you. Now look down at the troops. Find a big congregation of them. Ok now that tie fighter you are holding suspended in mid air charge it up with some Sith lightning. Congratulations you have just made a massive bomb, Take that thing and chuck it into the middle of the unsuspecting troopers.

Outside when the fighters are making their strafing runs there are several fun things to do here. You can do as stated in a previous post and levitate objects into the fighters path for it to run into. You can chuck those things the the fighters. You can use the process above to make the items into bombs and really ruin the fighters day. You can get the fighters to fire at you until one hits a vertical support then use the force to bend that support out into the fighter's path. And much much more.

A large part of the game-play is centered around the Force powers and not lightsaber combat. After all the game is Force Unleashed not GTA: Lightsaber edition. This leads to why the lightsaber is not in a favored control location and force grab is. Mix it up, combine a toss with a force push, charge your lightsaber with lightning. Grab a stormtrooper and bash him against the walls toss your saber into his chest charge him up and force push him into a crowd. Go wild with it.

Once you get out of the basic third person fighter mentality and embrace the various powers and learn to let loose the game becomes much more and the controls begin to make sense. It has a learning curve since it does not play like Star Wars games of the past, or really any game of the past. Sure you can play it as a guy running around with a lightsaber and only using the Force to solve puzzles but there is so much more if you take the time to experiment and have fun.

Probably the biggest problem with the demo is that it does not take the time to suggest these things it just dumps you into the middle of a mission. With the paradigm shift required to truly enjoy this game that is almost a crime.

I would suggest those that rushed through the game go back and look into it more. Find out what happens when you toss a droid through a transparisteel window on a space station, think of how you can use that to clear a hallway during a fight. Randomly grab at the walls see what you can wrench free. Look Up, Look Down, Be aware of your surroundings, the programmers have put far more tools at your disposal than you could possibly use, there may even be hidden rooms...

Other than the scripted sequence for taking out the ATST there is no need to even use your lightsaber in the demo. Even that I had fun trying every trick I had learned before activating the killing blow. BTW stormtrooper bombs can't take it out but they did make for some hilarious attempts.

I completely agree. I keep going back to the demo to see what else I can do with the environment. It really does provide for some fun creativity.

I did the same thing, and enjoyed it more. I like the idea of mass mayhem with force powers. C'mon 2 weeks!

--
For additional information on this subject please visit your local library.

SteelersFan : I thought the demo was no big deal. I tried it on the PS3 and although the background graphics and physics were phenominal, the character action itself was kind of archaic. Your character moves around like an old Amiga type game. Very jagged movement and fighting style. The depth of moving things in the air is often difficult to judge. The story seems compelling and the Star Wars universe speaks for itself. I just wasn't overly impressed with how the game moves. In fact, I was thinking to myself how some companies shouldn't put demos out for the fear that maybe the game just isn't that well liked. This is the kind of game that you may have bought it without trying it first, but after trying it, you may not like it. Not overly impressed.
