Re: What is ISDN??

AT&T also has a decent description here too:

Also, be weary that ISDN can be complicated to configure on the user-end. Reading many posts indicates that users either are successful in setting it up or have trouble getting their equipment configured properly.

Most people use a Terminal Adaptor (TA) / modem or a small router, i.e. Cisco 804

I called AT&T on ISDN and it was approx $132.45/month for the line (needed a central office extension since I'm in the sticks) and then figure $20-40.00 for the ISP. You will also need to find an ISP that supports channel-bonding so you can bind the two 64k channels into one 128k channel. AT&T setup fee was for year contract $125.00 and waived if you sign-up for a two year contract. $140.00 for indoor wiring.

A monthly ballpark of $170.00 for 128k up/down is awfully expensive for the bandwidth - ; not sure if I can stomach that yet... still waiting for a wireless alternative.

Wow! Where are you located? I should feel lucky as I'm paying less then $46 / month for my ISDN Line through Bellsouth/ATT. Also, I'm only paying $9.95 / month for 128K dual channel ISP connection through localnet. So for $60 a month I get decent thruput. The only other option I have is satellite as they don't even know how to spell DSL where I live nor do I have access to cable.
