| and again, and again - 2Wire 2701HG-B Gateway disconnects
Hi everyone,
I've seen similar problems reported here already but the behavior and logs seem to be a little different, hence - new thread =(
I have ATT Pro since May 2008, which should go up to 3Mbit and 2Wire 2701HG-B Gateway.
Configuration is the following:
Gateway is the only device plugged into a phone jack (I don't have a phone at all)
My laptop is the only computer connected to the router over wireless (though for troubleshooting I did connect it via Ethernet and saw the same error). I also have a printer that used to be connected to the router over Ethernet (the problem was before I connected and still was after I connected it).
What I usually see when the problem occurs:
On the computer side: when I am typing any URL I get a "Could not find ATM circuit" error message and two buttons - reboot the gate or go to the gate menu.
On the gate itself. First I hear click of a relay of some sort. If I look at the gate right after that - power and wireless indicators are solid green, internet and DSL are off. A little later (couple of seconds) DSL indicator goes solid on as well. Some more time later (about a minute or so) internet indicator goes on and everything works.
I did try different phone jacks and power outlets, everything connected directly - no power strips, phone splitters, etc. so just straight into the wall.
Needless to say, the disconnects are random, do not occur at all at some days and occur once every 10 minutes on other days. Did not install any software that would heavily utilize the connection - two messengers (Google Talk and ICQ) and browser.
I have also noticed the same thing happened with my laptop being off - same click, same blinking (of course wireless indicator stayed off since there was no connection from laptop to gate at all).

Beverly Hills, CA | Sounds like you may have a rebooting gateway not a line problem. I would recommend contacting your ISP to have them diagnose the problem and see if you need a replacement. | |

I will try another modem/gateway to see if it is truly the modem problem. Just hoped maybe there is some diagnostics can be done to find exactly what the reason is. Calling ATT, as you probably know, is such a waist of time... sigh...
BTW, anybody can explain how to read those logs? So far I couldn't even figure out the sequence - whether the events are from latest to earliest or the other way around. What lines would indicate connection problem and "ATM circuit not found" thing? | |
