@medtronic.com | reply to Kearnstd I have a feeling that Moll-E use will be similar to the engineering crafted saltshaker that is also a non-consumable 1-day cooldown. It will have limited uses though and may not be worth crafting.

2 edits | reply to Kearnstd Good to see the army knife though. Being a gnomish engineer gave me epic battle goggles at lvl 50, but no pattern for the jumper cables xl. Which means I have to pay for one to be made or hope to find one on the AH. With the 24 hr cooldown I agree that the mailbox is kind of useless given the mats (which I suspect will be very expensive if those are the lvl 80 equivalent of primal airs).
The gun looks decent, and the dps gives me hope that the lvl 70 gear will be easily good enough to lvl to 80.
The X-Ray specs are obviously a must have, and if there's an ap equivalent of the sonic booster, that would be an awesome equivalent to the chicken trinket - +45 stamina, only backfired once in 20 levels of use and is ideal for stopping people trying to ride away from you in bgs. |

4 edits | reply to Kearnstd I can't link them as I'm blocked from wow websites, but from memory (which may be a bit out) I think they gave 21 stamina, 28 critical hit and somewhere around 75-100 AP.
The only level requirement is that you must be lvl 50 to get to 375 engineering, which is the required skill level to make them.
How I did it.
First I grouped with someone who signed up for BGs in Shatt (a mage portal would work just as well). I then grabbed the Shatt flight point and made my way to Stonebreaker Hold in Terrokar Forest. After 2 deaths I made my destination, picked up the next flight point which in turn linked me to Thrallmar and Dark Portal automatically.
I then flew to Thrallmar and learned the 300-375 engineering skill.
The cost was excrutiating, but fortunately the last 15 pts can be achieved by turning out adamantite rifles. How many depends on your luck, but they're the cheapest thing to make at 360 engineering, while still giving you a skill pt, and the pattern can be bought from a vendor in Lower City.
My guess is the cost of 300-375 was around 1000g. I did manage some mining in Hellfire with a higher level bodyguard, but mostly I just bought the mats.
These goggles last until lvl 62, and imo are the equivalent of any lvl 70 epic below T4. At lvl 62 you can make your class specific epics, which only require 350 engineering. Lookup Deathblow X11 goggles and you'll see why these are comparable to T4 if not T5.
They are also a required item for the Sunwell engineering drop Deathblow X44, a T6 equivalent pattern.
edit
oops forgot the most important thing.
The engineering specialties fall into 2 groups, Gnomish Engineering and Goblin Engineering. Gnomish Engineering gives the leather epic goggle pattern, Goblin the mail version. You can't change you specialty afaik, so it's vital you make the right choice if you intend to use these goggles. Hunters can get away with using the leather, but obviously leather wearers can't get the choice wrong.
The plate and cloth goggles are also similarly divided between these specialties, but I don't remember which are which as they don't affect my toons.
It's basically the engineering equivalent of dragonscale / elemental leatherworking.
Are they worth it? Only if you intend to spend a lot of time at levels 50-62. As I used the lvl 51-60 AVs to get my season 2 gear, I felt they were worth it. |

join:2007-07-30 Brookfield, WI | reply to Kearnstd As it is, the cooldowns on some of the stuff is dumb. isn't it 20 minutes for the first rocket boots you can make? others are way to high also.
with such high cooldowns, some of the items are still fun, but aren't really used for much |

4 edits | reply to Kearnstd Saw a paladin in brutal gear, including shoulders, running around AV wearing rocket boots instead of PVP boots. Obviously he knows his stuff, but I was wondering if that was for fun or they actually have more benefit than what he'd get from his regular plate boots.
I can almost see the use of a mailbox in a few common but unnecessary situations. I've met tons of people that seem to carry their entire bank with them, and don't have room for drops or trades.
Or I could see how needing to make a raid on time and needing something that's still in the mail could make having a mailbox available in an instance sort of useful.
I agree these aren't spectacular reasons, but it's situations like these that irritate people and if you have the ability to plonk down a mailbox you have the potential of making someone happy.
But generally I fully agree the cooldowns are pretty much what takes these items from being really useful to curiosities. |
