Re: "Under the Radar"

I've been tethering on my Treo with Sprint for several years. Don't tend to use much more than 1GB/month even when streaming radio often (radioio). Works very well for a laptop connection anywhere there is a call signal.

I do have a Sprint broadband card on my work laptop too. There isn't too much performance difference.

The price drop is great for more than casual use but not as you primary connection. Many of the new WiFi/3G routers do work with Sprint phones though.

The programs like usbmodem, wmwifirouter, and pdanet make it darn near impossible to nail you, as it disables the tethered nai and uses the phone's mobile browser identification for the data connection...thus it looks like you're simply using the internet on your phone (keep in mind this mainly applies to smartphones/pda phones.)

Been tethering my mogul for a year now, and before that I was tethering my Q for six months, nary a word.

In fact the 5GB caps don't even really apply to the "under the radar" people either, though when you start being a data hog like that, I wouldn't feel bad if they did catch ya. I probably use 500-800MB/month between the actual data used by my phone and light tethering while on the road a couple times a week.
