Odd that the Fox Sports NW is not available with the Extreme HD package. Also the Local KIRO Sub channel that is carrying the Retro TV Network isn't there either. Odd. |

FIOS is close to Master Broadcast downloads from a good Sat signal. FIOS is better, (sharper, more color vibrancy) then a 2nd Generation Sat channel. |

| reply to turbo63 I just got Fios TV installed yesterday, in Silver Lake, and canceled Comcast. We got the same channels and more for $30 less a month.
The HD picture is really great compared to Comcast, and the Guide is a huge F&@#ing leap over Comcast. It's a bit of a clone of the the "twist" UI on the Xbox 360, but it works well, and it isn't laggy, and half the screen isn't taken up by ads.
The router sucks, though, we've been having network hiccups. I'll have to make their router just do the TV. |

1 edit | reply to JeepMatt said by JeepMatt :Noticed "Seattle" is now listed on the verizon.com website with an online channel guide. I noticed a new channel in the Sports section: America Channel (#86) I wonder if the rest of the FIOS footprint will carry the regional version of the station? Easy come, easy go. Do you believe they redid the new Seattle lineup already and removed that channel now? |

3 edits | I'm not scheduled to get FIOS TV installed here in Bothell until 10/8 but this lineup change slightly disappoints me. Not just the "loss" of this channel but there's no RFD (with Imus as the only lure for me there) nor CBUT with Hockey Night in Canada just a month away! I'm hoping that it's just temporary and they will add these channels soon enough...especially since Verizon doesn't have NHL Network.
At least the assumed Portland area-based Comcast Sportsnet NW listed in the Seattle lineup seems to broadcast 50 hockey games a year so maybe I'll get my 2 additional hockey games a week fix that way. *crosses fingers*
Edit: I just noticed that they also "deleted" the FSN HD channel from the lineup? WTF? NO wonder you guys weren't getting the FSN HD. I wonder what the problem is there?!? |

| reply to turbo63 Got FiOS TV installed yesterday in Bothell 98012 area code. Had 3 Comcast DVRs and two TiVos with Comcast CableCards.
Switched out for 3 FiOS HD DVRs, and my TiVos both needed two Cablecards, since Verizon apparently doesn't yet have any multistream cards yet. Install took about two hours. I had already been an Internet customer, with 50/20 speeds. I maxed out internet, and had HD playing on all three televisions, and all was fine without a hiccup. I like it!
The official launch is this Tuesday, September 9. I will actually be speaking at the launch at the Lynnwood Convention Center as a third party to tout how fantastic FiOS is as an overall service. -- My name is Andru Edwards. I run Gear Live. |

| reply to turbo63 Just had my install today... had them install a DVR and two cablecards for my TivoHD.
The FIOS DVR went fine and appears to be working ok (all channels subed to are received). The Cablecards took a supervisor to come out and check as the tech was "new"... finally I am getting some channels, mostly locals.
How long did it take for you to get all the channels you subscribed to on the cablecards? Most (non local) channels just come up grey screen.
I get the same results when I Test Channels under the cable card menu... the result appears to be the same regardless of which cable card is selected.
Thanks! |

| said by tosh9i :Is it still possible to get "3 free set top boxes" Are you talking about the three free "digital adapters" that are part of the "GO DIGITAL" transition for most Vz markets? If so, then probably not for you if the Seattle VHO is all digital from the start (like the OR VHO was) -- and I suspect it is.
However if you're talking about some other promotion, then your best bet is to check the website and/or call up Vz. |

| reply to turbo63 I was in the Verizon Plus store today and the 3 set top box for free is still available. I also have FIOS TV in Kenmore. It is by far the best picture compared to comcast which I just disconnected. There is no comparison. I counted 98 HD channels available on the Premier Plan which I have. HD box w/DRV is easy to do and I really like the menu. Installation was a breeze and they provided all the component cables. Can't beat that because those cable cost $$$$. I also have the 20/5 package w/ wireless router. I got true speeds as well on speakeasy speed test. |

| reply to turbo63 If I'm reading the channel line-up right for Bothell (98012) they don't provide Fox Sports NW HD? That'd be a bummer. I don't care to watch the disaster of a baseball team in HD, but catching some of the college football games in HD, when available, would be nice.
Did the IMG 1.6 update get pushed out to the Seattle area? Does this allow the use of an HD STB with the HMDVR? The CSRs on the phone are pretty adamant that only the std. STB will work with the HMDVR. |

And yes, 1.6 allows HD streaming to the HD STB. |

1 edit | said by darcilicious :Menu>>Settings>>System Info -- the version and build number will be displayed. I'd do this if I actually had service. My install date is next Monday. I ordered the HMDVR and std. STB because the CSR said the HD STB wouldn't work with the HMDVR. Based on your response I decided to change my order and go with the HMDVR and an HD STB. The second CSR I spoke with knew about the software update via a technician and said all was OK.
Apparently until the software roll-out is completed nation-wide they're not telling the CSRs. I can kind of understand, but I think it'd be better if the CSRs knew which markets supported which features (maybe that's too much information?!?) so they didn't confuse us poor customers. |

| For those on comcast, when they did the upgrade, did they need access to the wiring panel that is typically in your closet? My wife doesn't want anyone to go in there...she doesn't like the disorganization. |
