[Rant] Thanx for nothing, now about my damn qwestion!!!

A few weeks ago I wrote my mobo maker and asked if a chip would work w/my mobo w/out a bios flash. Sounds simple, right? Answer= "WITH bios ver. blah blah blah, that chip will work with your...". Thanx, now about MY damn qwestion?
Today, I got tired of waiting for a Brit shop to post an eta date on something so I cut the chase and went straight to the manufacturer.
ME-"Is the I-ram box going to be released, and if so when?"
THEM-"Thank you for your interest. The I-ram box will not be released in the US/Canada market." Thanx for nothing, now about my damn qwestion?!?!?!?!?
Thank you for reading, I really needed to vent. I was gonna put this in general qwestions, but after reading what I wrote I KNEW where to put it

Okay, I'll bite: how were they to know that you were writing them from the UK rather than the US or Canada?

And if you are actually in the US, have you ever thought about the possibility that the manufacturer might have a licensing agreement with a given patent holder forbidding them from making sales in North America?

(Just asking.)

Hm..sounds like they answered your question, and then they gave you a useful answer.

What did you expect from them, a yes/no answer? They don't know what BIOS version you have unless you specified it. It's possible there's different revisions of the BIOS released during different build times. So they took the sensible path and told you what the lowest BIOS revision it would work with.

And, did you specify what market you were in? As Qwestion asked, how were they to know?

As a former tech support rep, I must say the callers are nothing compared to the management. I would not have hated that job nearly so much if it was just the computer illiterates I had to deal with. Hell sometimes the illiterates were the easier calls, they tended to do what I told 'em.

Angry ones suck, sure, but they were not actually that common, truth be told. I usually ended up handing them off to a "supervisor" and later, when I myself was the "supervisor" it was quite amusing how quickly their tune changed when a different voice came on the line.
