7zip is the best *real* free program out there. It also has pretty good encryption as well-- "Strong AES-256 encryption in 7z and ZIP formats". -- Life is like stepping onto a boat which is about to sail out to sea and sink. - Shunryu Suzuki-roshi

7zip is the best *real* free program out there. It also has pretty good encryption as well-- "Strong AES-256 encryption in 7z and ZIP formats". both have that but not 7z in izarc it supports aes-256 in zip and jar.
With all the file formats izarc is the best unzipper but with compression you can't go wrong with good ole 7zip.
So for a all rounder not using compression Izarc wins hands down for a freebie.

7Zip is open source. Check sourceforge. org. Been using it for 10 years, it even takes care of unzipping rars. so does izarc now
since they updated im impressed. |

| reply to bones200 another iZarc vote from me. Have never used 7-Zip, but was wondering if it can make self extracting Zip files?
Also, what about the built in one for XP? Is that not available in the Home edition? -- We are all athiests about most of the gods that societies have ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further. ~Richard Dawkins |

| reply to bones200 Power archiver 6 - freeware, the interface is essentially the same as Winzip.

- Everything prior to version 7 is freeware. |
