| What about PSAs on the channels geared for asian-americans
I know that in the SF Bay Area, which has one of the largest asian-american populations in the united states, we do have a station that plays content in many languages, and exclusively geared at asian-american viewers. They have been announcing the DTV transition just like all the other broadcast tv stations in the area. They even have been dealing directly with many asian-american community organizations out here to help people understand what the transition is all about.
Honestly, if people watch broadcast tv still, and do not know about the transition (even though the messages play at least once an hour or so on just about every channel) then they just haven't been paying attention. Remember, folks, television isn't a right; it's a luxury. And it's also NOT the only means of outside communication for the elderly, contrary to what some people seem to think... If someone has a television, chances are they have at least one radio.
It's pretty asinine when people get obsessive over who doesn't know about the dtv transition, or who won't understand the television PSAs. The PSAs give out a phone number to call if someone doesn't understand the already extremely easy-to-understand explanation of the transition in the PSA. There's just no excuse - if someone is ignorant about the transition by now, either they must hardly use their television, or can't take the time to call the number from the PSA, and therefore the issue is not even an issue. -- »www.qirfa.com/ انا احب لبنان |
