Hurricane Charge - Louisiana

I'm curious to know if anyone else in the LA area got a "Hurricane Charge" on their electric bill this past month.

Now Entergy claims it's been in the bill all along. They just now decided to break it out as a separate line item.

Oh and don't even get me started on the whole "Fuel Adjustment Charge".

I will have to look, but my Entergy bills have been crazy high lately. I live by myself and the only thing left on during the day is my refrig, water heater, and my air conditioner is set to 80+.

I don't have that charge with Entergy Arkansas, but I do have some unknown things on there.
Ouachita plant interim costs...
ferc-imposed payemnt...
customer charge...
energy charge...

My bill was $84.75 and I live alone and keep the A/C at 95. I don't even use lights at night. The only things running are the beer fridge and my server. (and my porch light, forgot about that one).
My fuel and & purchased pwr cost... 13.87 for 742kWh. That leaves a difference of $70.88 in extra fees, taxes, and surcharges.
Bunch of crooks!!!!

I went to levelized billing a couple months ago b/c I knew this summer would be just as bad as last summer. I have a small 1400 sq ft home. I just recently upgraded our A/C to a better more efficient unit. Had I not gone to levelized billing, my electric bill would have been ~ $350 for last month. ~$250 of that was the "Fuel Adjustment Charge". It's basically the cost of natural gas b/c we get our electricity from natural gas burning plants. So when natural gas prices go up, they pass that charge along to the customer. They claim it's a pass thru charge and that they make no profit off it. Yeah, I'd like to see the books on that one.

They should plop down a plant directly on top of the shale and do away with all the Fuel Charge.
