Shopper @xo.net	[Modem] Security: Modem v. Router To anyone who can help: AT&T is offering to pay for my dsl modem or dsl router. Is one or the other more secure? Any other advantages either way? Thank you in advance for your help.

tonydi Premium,MVM join:2001-05-11 San Jose, CA	Re: [Modem] Security: Modem v. Router Having a router is more secure, primarily because of the built-in firewall that come on most routers. Now, some people prefer to have a choice in routers, often because they want features not provided on the AT&T offering or they just prefer a different brand, so they get the standard modem and buy a third party router.
