Not long ago I announced I had finally ordered the last bit I needed to complete my very first home studio! This morning I was woke up by the buzzing sound of the door bell...it was UPS, earlier than usual, and with my lights! W00T!
So I went to the studio, set the strobes up, and asked my younger brother to model for 25 minutes so I could learn and play with them a little. I had done a lot of reading, watched The Strobist DVD Seminar. But only had 1 day of practical shooting with Speedlites, and 1 week-end day with rented strobes. I was very excited to try the White Seamless, as I had NEVER tried it before.
Here are the results! To be honest, for less than a year of shooting experience and less than two days of lighting experience, I'm pretty damn happy! My reading paid off, so did the purchase of my light meter Thank god for a light meter.
My brother was a little shy. #6 has huge disgusting noise shadow, didn't use reflector there (should have, live and LEARN!). #2 was done with a reflector on right for fill. Aside from the full body shot, all shots came out with straight white out the camera, no PS needed. PP included slight saturation boost, curves, and sharpening.
All-in-all, as I said, I'm more than happy for my first half hour of shooting! Tomorrow, a very good and hot looking friend of mine will be my model for an entire afternoon, with all the makeup, shoes, half dozen outfits and the sexiness
Let me know what you think!
PS. I really need to get that 50-135mm lens! The 77mm, although wonderful, really is limiting even with the 15ft of space I have. I had to use my 28-75mm for my full body shot, and imho, it shows! |
