If a tv is set up with Tru2Way (OCAP) each cable company can upload the software to the tv to get the channels that you pay for. This will eliminate the boxes and provide protection for the cable company's. It might be out next year. But in my case I just bought a 72 in dlp tv last year and I will not be buying another tv just to get Tru2Way (OCAP)

They will when OCAP come out but you have to buy a tv to get it with a box.

I'm going to disagree with you on this.Those days where long gone years ago where you could buy a box at Kmart. Comcast uses SA or Motorola Boxes. They are not interchangeable with each other. SA or Motorola sells the boxes to the public. If you buy one it is stolen and Comcast will not provision.
Yes the fcc made the rule that you can own your own box but only TiVo are making them for the public. If they are not made how can you buy one.
The only one available now is The TiVo brand. No other manufactures are making them.
When the cable company's come with the OCAP hardware and software then you can get away with not having box. Yes there are tv's with cable cards I got one with a cable card but they not that many that does except cable cards.

In the USA the STB Manufacture & the MSO's do not sell current used STB equipment to the end user. You must rent them from the MSO's.
