Forlin : I think you found your answer, at least as far as the video card goes. I use an ATI card myself, but I know the 8800 GTS and the 9800 GTS do outperform ATI at the moment.

It may be that future drivers narrow the difference a bit, but with all of the video settings maxed, what you get on your system matches what I get on mine with my ATI 3870 card installed.

Almost anywhere other than Shatt I get 60-70 FPS with vsync enabled, inside about 35-45 FPS. Raids with tons of spell effects, multiple mobs, etc I'd get around the same 35-45 FPS.

This bares out what most reviewers say, that although the ATI cards are fine for gaming, nVidia still has the edge. Future drivers might alter this, but I don't really care as I'm not into first person shooters. I just like ATI stuff and have had nothing but solid reliability from their gear. If I needed top end frame rates for some reason maybe I'd think differently.

Tried 8.5 cats to 8.8 to hotfix drivers - only this game gives me very bad FPS and sluggish preformance. No AV installed, just WoW and Chipset, Audio, Video Drivers installed.

I popped in my old 8800GTS card, and i was in shat at 50-100+ FPS and steadily in Raids at 60-70fps. Could it be a driver issue with WoW, or maybe I should get a newer Motherboard with chipset?
