[Services] Upgrade to 6.0+ without bundle

I have 3.0 mb service,I would like higher speed. When I called earthlink I was told that I could get up to 8.0 mb DSL but only if I bundle with other services like phone. Does anyone know how I can get my speed upgraded without bundling? DSL Extreme can provide 8.0 without bundling.

You can't get higher than 6 without bundle with Earthlink.

Kindguy98 See Profile is correct. 6.0 is the fastest non-bundled DSL Earthlink sells and that is only if you are connected to a Covad co-located CO (no remotes) and have to be under 8,000 feet away.

The rep told me that I couldn't even get 6.0 without signing up for a bundle.

That is not accurate info. The rep is confused or you are on a CO that doesn't have Covad.

Check the EL Web Site, use a neighbor's number.

Who are you provisioned by and what are your current DSL Stats?

I am provisioned through Covad. What stats are you looking for?

I have never had to get this information before. How do I get it from the modem. It is a 7 year old Zxyel 642m. I also have a Zxyel Zywall 2+ router.

You have to telnet into the ZyXEL and the information will look like this. Bold text is the command you type inside the Modem.

quote:
Upstream Speed: 384 kbps
Downstream Speed: 1536 kbps

MindSprin> wan adsl linedata near
relative capacity occupation: 37%
noise margin downstream: 22.5 db
output power upstream: 12.0 dbm
attenuation downstream: 37.0 db

MindSprin> wan adsl linedata far
relative capacity occupation: 52%
noise margin upstream: 23.0 db
output power downstream: 19.5 dbm
attenuation upstream: 21.5 db
You should be able to use these directions with your ZyXEL 642.

Modem would not respond to telnet connection. I tried with normal LAN and crossover lan cables connected directly to my PC.
