You don't really think AT&T isn't going to follow suit within 6 months? |

| reply to jester121 yah it sounds like he is.
People are going over board on the caps. Especially if they are under the limit. The rule always applies though don't like it take your business else where. But if ATT, and VZ does it and you go to dial-up what's going to happen when you're limited to 150 or 200hours per month? ouch! didn't think of that did ya fatmanskinny? And yes most providers especially nationwide resell their access and limit the amount of hours one can get online with each account. |

Actually, I feel like I get more than my money's worth from my $42.95/month internet connection -- many hours of entertainment and convenience. In fact it's probably the best value out of all our discretionary household expenses. |

| reply to hottboiinnc Unlimited on dialup is easy, since on the maximum achievable dialup speed you can only download 13gb/month in a 31 day month.
Also, time caps are only used by really crappy dialup companies, or companies that want you to move to something like DSL (Which is why Verizon does 300 hours a month).
Good providers like PeoplePC are unlimited. |

| reply to DrModem The good people at PeoplePC are actually owned by Earthlink. What are you planning on doing if they actually close?
it's up to Elink to sell PeoplePC customers off as a whole or just leave you hanging. And as far as Elink and done so far they'll leave you hanging. |

| reply to fatmanskinny said by fatmanskinny :Nah, I just believe that the consumer must realize the power of their hard-earned (probably not in your case. lol) dollar. The problem is that you're not showing them anything other than you'll spend more money else where to get the same thing done so they know you have the money to spend in the first place.
You're also proving the worth of the broadband connection, you do know that, right?
You're going to wind up paying more for what you had before and getting less - and they know it. Further, eventually, dial up won't be available anymore. some law will ultimately render it obsolete and the FCC will restrict it back down to 9600 or 14.4 or something to make it used only for small credit card or fax machines..
it's bound to happen.. but taking a step back and paying more, like I said, you're not proving anything to them. |
