Re: Need to switch between Interleave and FastPath? Part 2 said by JesuGuy :@Smith6612 At the moment I'm receiving speeds very close to 3 Mbps on a 1.5 Mbps plan and I'm on an Interleaved path. About a couple days ago is when I saw this speed jump. In fact, about 2 days ago overnight I saw it climbing up by 100 kbps each hour. If I choose to switch back to Fast path, would my speed go back down? Generally FastPath will knock speeds down on a line that is not performing up to spec. Your line is running marginal, so it would be ideal to keep Interleaving on the line to keep the disconnects away at that speed. If there is a way Verizon or you could improve the line enough to maintain a full 3M sync and leave enough room for variance in the noise, FastPath will be do-able.
@JonnyM: What makes you think that line can't do it? It's golden for FastPath and much more speed if you're interested in the future. Ask tim_k about the congestion thing, too. He might be able to help you out.
@quaa: It seems there is a problem with the line that is affecting the upstream. Margin's low and sync rate is bad. Plug your modem into your NID to see if the home's wiring is causing that issue. It should be doing a lot better than that.
@hbottjer: If you tell us what modem you have, we'll tell you how to get that info |

Alright, then I'll stay on an Interleaved Path because my minimum ping isn't so high and I would rather choose a faster download/upload speed rather than having a slight ping advantage. Thank you. |

| reply to Smith6612 Ironically, I was an online gamer a few years ago but since have gotten away from it. At the time, I was on fast path. Today out of curiosity, for the first time in years, I decided to look at my transtats.
Transceiver Revision: 01.00.09.00 Vendor ID Code: 4 Line Mode: G.DMT Mode Data Path: Interleaved Transceiver Information Down Stream Path Up Stream Path DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 3360 864 Margin (dB) 20.5 14.0 Line Attenuation (dB) 16.0 5.0 Transmit Power (dBm) 8.8 11.1
What do you know, somewhere over the last couple years VZ bumped me from Fast to Interleaved. Think it's safe to request the switch back? Maybe even a upgrade to 7.1? Been forever since I asked them that, and I used to ask monthly. -- Spread Opera! The fast, sleek, and feature-rich browser! »opera.com

Recently the latency has gotten so bad I generally can't stream or game properly from 2pm-12am most days If it were ~200ms it would at least be tolerable, but it's usually ~300+ |

@MajorG1: You can get your line boosted to the full 1Mbps/384kbps rate for your package and also get FastPath enabled on your line. If you're having speed issues in the evening or night hours, talk to tim_k above. He should be able to do something for you to help you out with this. |

 | reply to Smith6612 hello smith i have a ongoing post in direct for about a month under rci2990, and still havent got switched over to fastpath.somehow i used to be on fastpath but noticed i got moved to interleaved at some point.i play mmo games and need the lower latency.was wondering if you could check to see what the holdup is. thanks |

| We are. This thread just doesn't mark itself as having new replies as it used to for my account so I'm never sure if I marked the thread as unread or if it is actually new at this point.
If your line was moved from FastPath, just put in a request to get it moved back. It happened to my line about a month ago and it took no time at all to get it kicked back.
@ae79: I would not go for FastPath without a small speed reduction. Your line is synced up properly as it is but the margins are low due to distance. If you're confident it will work well enough, you can try for it but I wouldn't do it. |

1 edit | nevermind i didnt see that tim replied to me in a pm. |

 | reply to Smith6612 Perhaps it is silly to post my specs but this is what I have:
Transceiver Revision A2pB020b3.d20h Vendor ID Code 4D54 Line Mode ADSL_2plus Data Path FAST
Transceiver Information Down Stream Path Up Stream Path DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 5214 860 Margin (dB) 27.8 15.0 Line Attenuation (dB) 34.0 14.3 Transmit Power (dBm) 20.1 12.4
Data Path says Fast so I guess I already have fast path? Now I just wish my speed wasn't stuck in the stone age. |

 | reply to tim_k Hi, I verified with a representative at Verizon that I have the High Speed Enhanced service, which is supposed to be 1.1-3
My transceiver stats are:
Transceiver Revision: 7.1.254 Vendor ID Code: 4 Line Mode: G.DMT-Mode Data Path: Interleaved
Transceiver Information Down Stream Path Up Stream Path DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 1792 448 Margin (db) 18.5 12.0 Line Attenuation (db) 42.5 18.5 Transmit Power (db/Hz) 14.0 10.0
Is there anything that I can do in order to improve my speed?
I cannot even properly stream videos at the lowest settings, such as BBC news broadcast clips or even standard Youtube clips... There are 3 users in our family, and if one person tries watching the stuttering news broadcast, the other 2 users cannot even browse the Internet (pages take forever to load, etc.)
It has gotten particularly bad in the past month or two, I believe. So I'm not quite sure what changed during this time...
Thank you very much for your time! |

Smith6612Premium,MVM join:2008-02-01 North Tonawanda, NY kudos:21 | Try plugging your mode into your NID for us. It seems Verizon might be limiting your speed due to noise rather than due to distance at the moment. The upstream likely won't play nice with 864kbps sync rate. |

 | Thanks for the reply!
Unfortunately, I think it's located in the common cabinet that my home and several others share. The common cabinet is located on another home's property so I cannot access it... |

Here are my stats. I'm not even sure of the connection I'm on. Any tips at all would be appreciated. |
