While there is room for FastPath on that line, there isn't much room for variance in the line's margins. You can give it a go, but expect your margins to drop a little bit and don't be surprised if the line syncs at a lower speed.

[Interleave/Fastpath] Re: My line keeps disconnecting. Should I switch to Interleaved?

You are close enough to take 7.1Mbps + FastPath, however the line may just have some noise on it that is causing the disconnects. Right now the margin is too low to get the full 7.1Mbps speed, but it should be raisable. As per the disconnects, have you looked at your modem logs at all? Those will help.

[Interleave/Fastpath] My line keeps disconnecting. Should I switch to Interleaved?

Hey Smith/Jodokast,

I switched to Fastpath last Novemeber. The latency/connection improvement was substantial. Last month, it started disconnecting randomly. Lately, it's been doing do several times a day, rendering long sessions of online gaming impractical.

Do I have to switch back to Interleaved or has my line quality degraded?

Give your alarm company a call and tell them you have DSL. They should be able to tell you what to do in order to filter that.

Thanks Smith6612 for your quick reply, I have filter on all my phone lines, but just realized that there is a phone connection hard wired into my Home security system, I am going to have to find out how to add the filter onto it, because I think that might be my source of loosing the sync. I will post my result after that.

Chocky, Your line is provisioned at 3Mbps, not at the 1.5Mbps speed, so you are obviously losing your sync. See if you can clean up the line to get the margins a little higher so that you can get the 3Mbps speed, and then we'll see if you can get FastPath after that. The proper sync rate for 3Mbps is 3360/864.

Buckettruck, your line is good.

You would quality for 7.1Mbps with possibly FastPath, however by the looks of it, you're provisioned at the 3Mbps speed, but line noise is degrading your speeds substantially. Try plugging your modem into your NID to see if the stats improve, especially the sync rate and margin before we go anywhere else. Proper sync rates are 3360 downstream, 864 upstream. With ADSL2+ which is what you're running, these numbers will be slightly less.

Plamarine, your line is good for FastPath. As per 7.1Mbps and FastPath, that is a bit iffy for me to determine that.

Good to go! Ask about the boost to 1Mbps/384kbps as well . It'll give you faster speeds and shave off a couple more ms to the first hop.
