1 edit | reply to Smith6612 I recently upgraded to the 7.1 but as you can see there was 0 difference from my 3.0 line, if anything it is worse. I don't know why there was no speed change but my quality did go down, usually the speed test won't go over 1800kb before it was at least 2100. It has been up and down and every time i restart the modem it seems to get slower. I see im on the fast path already but i have had no change in pings in the servers i play in. I really think the upgrade was not completed right or my house wring must be that bad, i don't know.

| Do you have a post or a copy of your old transceiver stats before the bump up to 7.1Mbps? If your stats were much better, I wonder what may have happened as right now those stats say no go for even 3Mbps service. -- It's all fun and games in a Team Fortress 2 battle until your sentry gun is sapped by the Spycrab! |

Do I qualify for fastpath? I think i had it before, would really love it again, thanks! Also where do I officially request it? I'm sure I have to give someone who works @verizon my phone number etc right? |

| reply to freddesite @freddesite: Your margins are too low for FastPath. I did reply to your other thread on your line being out of sync, so we'll see what we can do there first. At the moment though that line should be on Interleaved to get more margin out of it.
@dajedipimp: The line has a bit of attenuation on it as well as the upstream being out of sync. If you have a NID, plug your modem into that to see if the stats are any better. If not, we can see if we can get Verizon to move the line to ADSL2+
@tdavis5432: Your line is good to go for FastPath. Just visit the Verizon Direct forum located on this website to get it switched. Here's the link: »/forum/vzdirect -- It's all fun and games in a Team Fortress 2 battle until your sentry gun is sapped by the Spycrab! |

| Oh, ok. If the apartments are fairly new and if everything is filtered correctly (and there's nothing such as alarms or communication systems on the line like some apartments have that are unfiltered) then it might just be a long line. -- It's all fun and games in a Team Fortress 2 battle until your sentry gun is sapped by the Spycrab! |

Should I just go ahead and request for ADSL2+ or have verizon try to fix the attenuation and sync? |
|
Smith6612 Premium join:2008-02-01 united state | You can try asking for ADSL2+ to see if Verizon is able to give it to you. |

1 edit | reply to Smith6612 From reading the posts, I don't think my loop's good for FastPath, but just checking. Is the loop even good for 3Mbps?

1 edit | reply to netsurfer41 Plug your modem into the NID and post up the stats from there. The attenuation is not in a 2:1 ratio (where it typically is on a good line) which might be indicating some bad wiring someplace. The upstream attenuation suggests that the line should be capable of 3Mbps + FastPath. -- It's all fun and games in a Team Fortress 2 battle until your sentry gun is sapped by the Spycrab! |

| reply to Smith6612 A couple of days ago I upgraded from 3.2Mbps to 7.1Mbps, but am not getting all of the speed. What might help to get my speed up to where it should be? Would getting the line mode changed to ADSL2+ help? Can I get FastPath also? Thanks.

| Your line should be short enough in itself to handle 7.1Mbps sync. Do you have a NID? The downstream isn't synced properly, but the upstream is. Plug the modem into your NID and post up the stats again. From there, we'll see what changes can be made. -- It's all fun and games in a Team Fortress 2 battle until your sentry gun is sapped by the Spycrab! |

| reply to Smith6612 Okay, I plugged in the modem to the NID and this is what I got:
Westell 7500 Transceiver Revision A2pB020b3.d20h Vendor ID Code 4D54 Line Mode ADSL_G.dmt Data Path INTERLEAVED Transceiver Information Down Stream Path Up Stream Path DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 6816 864 Margin (dB) 5.2 15.0 Line Attenuation (dB) 27.0 12.0 Transmit Power (dBm) 19.8 12.1
The downstream is improved when plugged into the NID, what would cause the slowdown in between the NID? There is at most 30 ft. of CAT5e between the NID and the room where the modem sits. (I have some CAT6 cables I could run if it's degradation caused by the line I suppose.) |

| That could all be simply based on what is around the wiring that you're going through as well as the quality of the copper outside. You can try things out with the CAT6 cable to see how that works out even though CAT5 should be more than sufficient. Otherwise, you can try asking for ADSL2+ and then posting back to see how the line stats look then. Proper sync rate for the 7.1Mbps is 7616kbps downstream, 864kbps upstream. -- It's all fun and games in a Team Fortress 2 battle until your sentry gun is sapped by the Spycrab! |
