Let's get clear here. I got the call. I asked how much I should cut down the consumption and was not told a number, or even a percentage. I asked to upgrade to business class and was denied. I used almost nothing the next month then I switched to Earthlink. My usage the next month was about 30% percent less than the "problematic" month. Comcast cut my access. When I asked Earthlink what was going on they could not convince Comcast to turn the access back on. No monopoly, of course. The plot thickens and has holes. You switched... ok, then why are you here complaining?

| reply to Coollikethat said by Coollikethat :said by sturmvogel :As long as the DVR and HD services are Comcast's they are not counted in the cap. If they are from a competitor, Dish or other legal sites that distribute legal video content, they ARE counted against the cap. That is, in my opinion, they clear monopolistic behaviour that the FCC and the FTC will look into quite soon. That makes even less sense. Is Tivo (non-Comcast) included in this too? How can other services (Dish, DirecTV, etc.) be included in the Comcast High Speed Internet usage cap of 250 GB a month if they use different connections for service? It makes absolutely no sense at all. Comcast High Speed Internet has it's own dedicated cable line. What does that dedicated line have to do with Dish, DirecTV, or Tivo? They don't share the same line. If these services use the Internet for delivery (on demand, divx or whatever) based on the TCP/IP protocol, they will be counted. Wait and see.
Of course, if there is a video delivery on the satelite band 12 Ghz or whatever of Tivo records directly from a satelite receiver, it has nothing to do with Internet traffic or the cap. -- Treason is a matter of dates |

Earthlink is presented as a competitor to regulators here but turns out to be a reseller only. When there are issues, Earthlink has no power to resolve them whereas Comcast has the final word.
It may be difficult for you to understand, so I will try to make the "plot" simple: Comcast cut my Earthlink access. Easy to understand, yes ? -- Treason is a matter of dates |

Terry Your recollection is incorrect. It was 500 initially (half a terabyte as they said, which is 512 and then they said is really 500), then I cut to 351 according to my router's logs.
They did claim 480 the subsequent call, but that was incorrect according to my logs.
