1 edit | Yes it will work, but it is not the one you want.
You need a Motorola Netopia 2210-02-1006.
The Motorola Netopia 2210-02-1002 = AT&T except for AT&T Southeast.
The Motorola Netopia 2210-02-1006 = AT&T Southeast FastAccess DSL.
The Motorola Netopia 2210-02-1002 is dumber than a box of rocks.
The 2210-02-1002 and 2210-02-1006 are the exact same hardware wise, but the firmware is different. It's a good modem just not very configurable.
If all you are going to do is "Bridge" it and use it with an aftermarket router and it is cheap then I don't see problems with getting it. By cheap I mean under $20.00 because you can get a 2210-02-1006 for just a little more and for about $40.00 you can get a damn nice 3347NWG-006 or 3347-02-1006 Wireless Gateway. |
|
 | My mom has a Motorola 2210-02-1006, but since she only has DSL lite, I was afraid that I might have needed one with more strenght, since I will be getting DSL Xtreme 3.0.
So if I am understanding you correctly a Motorola 2210-02-1006, it will work on both a Xtreme 3.0 or (Xtreme 6.0 when it becomes avalible). Would that be correct?
Bell South/ AT&T whats $75 for me to buy their modem. I know I can get it cheaper on fleabay. |

| reply to Sasba858 Are you going to be getting FastAccess DSL Xtreme 3.0 with voice service or are you going to be getting FastAccess DSL Direct 3.0 without voice service?
If you are getting FastAccess DSL Xtreme 3.0 with voice service and order online you can get the Home Networking service for Free and get a Free after rebate Home Networking Wireless Gateway 2Wire 2701HG-B ($100.00 value).
If you don't want the Home Networking you can still get the Motorola 2210-02-1006 ($75.00 value) for Free after rebate with FastAccess DSL Xtreme 3.0 with voice service if you order online.
I don't know what they do about modems with FastAccess DSL Direct. |
|
 | What is voice service?
They told me on the online chat, that they are offering the rebate for the DSL modem ($75.00 value) to their existing customers, but not new customers. |

Does anyone know if this router is compatible to the Motorola High Speed DSL Modem Model 2210 02 1006 ?
burris,
As a new customer did you just order the DSL internet sevice only, or did you get any other service along with it? |

1 edit | I came from Comcast and ordered DSL direct. I would not have switched if I had to have a land line as well. Nothing else.. I have been on VOIP for about 3 years now.
With the free modem and $125.00 reward for switching from cable...not too shabby. Down the road, my concern is that when the promised dry loop deal ATT made with the FCC expires, the ususal price increases will come forth. I'll worry about it then. I'm almost too old to buy green bananas any more. |
|
 | Burris,
I paid a annual fee to vonage 2 months ago, so it would be stupid to pay them for AT&T phone service.
Is what you have the FastAccess® DSL Direct Xtreme?
They told me that it would be $47.95 for 24 months. |

1 edit | Quit talking to the AT&T people. You need to do everything you can to avoid talking to them on the phone or through chat. If you talk to ten of them you will get ten different answers and it's possible that none are the right answers.
You can order online and avoid all interaction with them.
You have the opportunity to review the Terms of Service, Terms and Conditions, and all other legalese mumbo jumbo both before and during the online order process before you make the final commitment to order service.
Nothing they tell you on the phone or through chat means anything anyway. If it's not written down somewhere and signed then it means nothing. When you make the final commitment to order service online it means that you accept all Terms and Conditions of the service and their other legal mumbo jumbo and it's the same thing as you signature.
Just go online and order your service. Make absolutely sure that you read all the Terms and Conditions and everything else before you finalize your order. Print out everything relating to your order and the order confirmation.

Edit: All the modems currently offer by AT&T Southeast can run at speed up to 24,000kbps and they all can be "Bridged" to work with an aftermarket router. |

 | Okay, I am doing what you said but I am stuck here, as I want to know what FastAccess DSL Direct means?
I what the modem rebate, but it says that it is not offered with FastAccess DSL Direct. Check it out below:
------------------------------------------------------------
DSL Modem $75.00
Special Offer: Order online and get a FREE modem after rebate when purchasing FastAccess DSL Ultra and higher
Note: Special Offer does not apply to FastAccess DSL Direct.

| All of these are DSL Internet service with no land line telephone service. This is also known as "Naked DSL". There are no extra taxes and fees. What you see is what you pay.
FastAccess DSL Direct 768K: $19.95 per month FastAccess DSL Direct 1.5M: $37.95 per month FastAccess DSL Direct 3.0M: $42.95 per month FastAccess DSL Direct 6.0M: $47.95 per month
You want to get FastAccess DSL Direct to use with your Vonage VOIP telephone service.
If it says that you do not get a Free modem or wireless gateway with FastAccess DSL Direct then you don't get one.
You will have to pay for one. Don't waste your money buying one from AT&T Southeast for $75.00 because it not worth but about $50.00 on its best day brand new. AT&T reserves the right to supply a refurbished modem or wireless gateway.
You can get an AT&T Southeast (FastAccess DSL) version modem or wireless gateway off eBay or at a yard sale for much less. The only thing you get with an AT&T Southeast supplied modem or wireless gateway is the fact that you know it is going to work or they will make it right and you get a warranty. It's also convenient to order the modem or wireless gateway when you order service because it's one less thing to worry with.
. .
All of these are DSL Internet service with AT&T land line telephone service. There are taxes and fees on your bill due to the land line telephone service.
If your land line service was $20.00 and your Internet service was $20.00 then you bill would not be $40.00. It would be like $65.00 because the government likes to suck you dry of all your money so it can give to and spend it on people that wont hit a lick plus they like to spend your money for other "Nanny State" like services.
FastAccess DSL Lite: $14.95 per month FastAccess DSL Ultra: $32.95 per month FastAccess DSL Xtreme: $37.95 per month FastAccess DSL Xtreme 6.0: $42.95 per month

1 edit | There is only one Motorola High Speed DSL Modem Model 2210 02 1006 on e-bay, and it is not ended to Sunday night. I can not find another place that has them. I do not want to order the service until I know I have that modem coming in. |
|
Airwolf7Premium join:2004-12-12 Franklin, KY kudos:1 | I will look for some more on there for you. People mislabel their auctions all the time.
Thanks for the link to that modem for sale because that guy sales Kodak digital camera parts and has the one I have been looking for forever. |
