| Low Speeds, High Pings, Contractor Can't Figure It Out
So I called AT&T tech support yesterday about my connection having been slow for about a week and half. Conducting speed tests I was literally getting less than 512kbps on the fast access speedtest and less than 1mbps on the speakeasy speedtest. I was also getting 250ms pings to yahoo and most other web sites. So the contractor came today at 7:40pm and was around for about an hour, he checked out some things but could not figure it out so he called AT&T support which put him on hold for like twenty minutes!!! After some more talking and checking no one could figure it out and now on Saturday a tech is coming to check it out. Apparently the problem is outside, this DSL service has been so problematic for me... |

Hialeah, FL | Well it's been happening for far too long and they didn't tell me anything about it except the fact that a tech is coming on Saturday, which leads me to believe that they don't know jack sh*t. |

You might get an indication of where the problem lies by running this in a Windows command window:
tracert www.att.net
If the numbers are high in the first hop outside of your house, post the Max Allowed Speed (kbps), the S/N and attenuation statistics from your modem. |

It appears to be normal right now at the moment, but less than ten minutes ago running the same ping tests there was 25% packet loss when pinging both yahoo.com and att.net. |
