I had a 3G Samsung Blackjack that worked just fine. With that phone I could drive from Clinton, CT to Wallingford, CT (about 35 miles) with zero dropped calls. I got an iPhone 3G and traveling the same route had four dropped calls. Yes, it was a different day though it was the same time of day. But to me this does NOT indicate a problem with the AT&T network, rather a problem with the iPhone. I've been told to leave 3G off unless I need the speed and it does work better that way. So it seems the iPhone doesn't switch between 3G and EDGE very nicely. And again, I don't see how that's a problem with the network.
