Or also called Low Water Bridge. We have them everywhere here. It will stay like this till it gets a good rain. Then the whole area will be under water up to that huge rock across the creek. Then within 6 to 8 hours it will be back to normal again. Some have a culvert (concrete pipe) under them, but many are like this, just a slab of concrete across the dry creek bed. Everyone knows when it rains, you find another way around, or you just wait it out. They dont stay flooded long. They only build bridges where it will stay flooded for extended periods of time or on the main roads.

Here are some cell phone photos (not so great) taken of three low water crossings one day after it rained.

there is a road over by Clinton just off 13 on a spur of Truman lake they put in a high water bridge. The bridge stays above water when it rains but the road is lower than the bridge and gets covered with water.

If I am back that way during rainy season i will grab some pictures

We have one here built by the Flood Contol District called Indian Bend Wash. During dry times, it's a wonderful place for hiking, fishing, and just about anything else one wants. During heavy rains such as the one we had last night and the one I hear thundering its way in now, the water flows across some City Roads that are as dry and unsuspecting otherwise. In fact, they are one of the causes of our having to have what's called a 'dumb driver law'...one shalt not be stupid and drive across a posted road. If so and one needs rescuing by anyone, one shalt be heaviily fined. »images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=···246US246

My second home is down around Clinton. I am real familiar with that area. I have seen quite a few of those types of crossings especially when we are driving on the country roads.
