[iPhone] Did I Buy A Fake iPhone?I bought from a creditable eBayer (so I thought) with a 100% positive feedback and a member for several years. He listed the item as a new Apple iPhone. Below are pictures of the item I received and took note of
Box does not mention Apple nor iPhone on it.
Instructions show a reversed Apple image?
Instructions state "Thank you for choosing Phone Full-Chinese Color-screen Mobile Phone."
The back of the phone slides off, to which you can install the battery and the SIM card. There is also no ringer button on the side.
In addition the appearance of the menu is slightly different. Going through the menus, such as the settings, the menus become very different and ugly from the original iPhone.
Am I correct that this is a fake iPhone? Interestingly, the back cover that slides off is metal material with a correct Apple logo on it.
If it matters, it states bluetooth on the box and the back of the metal cover of the phone. Is the bluetooth that much different, or is this a fake iPhone with an attempt to be deceitful by having an Apple logo on the slide cover?
Please advise. Thanks!!

I'll come clean. It was me who bought this knock-off. Here's the link to the item: » cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP ··· T&ih=001He's been there for over 4 years with 100% feedback. Here's what the back slide off cover looks like. It has the Apple logo (correct)

There are incidences of people getting their eBay accounts hijacked. Hope you're able to get a refund! |

PayPal (if you used it) will protect you...contact them. If they don't help, and if you used a credit card to back up the PayPal payment, the card company will protect you, contact them. Just start the sentence with 'online fraud' and they will respond very quickly. |

Just start the sentence with 'online fraud' and they will respond very quickly. And paypal will ban you from using paypal very quickly as well. In the end, Paypal is useless for getting your money back unless you spend the extra couple bucks for Buyer Protection (which is basically an insurance plan). Good luck, OP. First thing you should do is contact eBay and have that account closed so the scumbag doesn't make anymore money. Then fight for your money back. |

PayPal has a fraud protection area. Even if the money has been removed, they will investigate the case. If you can prove you've been the victim of a fraud, they will should charge the seller account which is tied into their bank account or credit card. I've used it once with satisfaction, so I can't make a blanket claim, but it's worth a shot. |

How's the phone? With a removable battery it might be better than the real thing. |

I always thought that sellers who are trying too hard to convice you that he/she is legit is really a scammer. Please bid/buy with confidence!!! I am a trusted Ebayer with 100% feedback with good quality items. BUY IT NOW $350. Come to think of it this could be a good case of a hacked account come look at my other items for sale I checked and the seller has nothing else for sale |

Am I reading this correctly? Return policy details: The buyer has 7 days to return the item (the buyer pays shipping fees). The item will be refunded. |

Something particularly odd about tonypayroll413's profile. Ebay reports he's Not a Registered User, yet the latest item sold was a Triband Cect P168 Cell Phone |

Damn, what a horrible knockoff... Sorry to hear that you got scammed, especially for $350 holy crap...
It's not even quad band, you are only limited to the 1900mhz gsm in north america, and the data connectivity only lists GPRS not even EDGE! |

What are you talking about? |
|
|
If you look at the ebay auction that he references, the Ebay user name and his user name here in the forums are the same. Why would some one go through all of that trouble just to make up a story? |

Wait...is it the real iPhone OS inside this imitation? Or a very well-crafted fake? If it was not a counterfeit, would still be very cool phoen to own. |

This is an ANON poster. If he paid for that fake thing. He deserved to get ripped off. |

Look at the link that I provided. It shows that I was the winner (my username is the same on eBay as it's here). Then, look at the fact that I've been on eBay as a registered user for several years (eBay shows you if the username was recently changed - which it does not in this case), and my username here has been the same since day one (justin ,nil could verify that.) |

If you look at the pictures in the auction, you'll see it looks more legit than what I received. So don't tell me it's my fault that the seller sent me something that not only he claimed it wasn't, but sent me something that doesn't match his auction pictures. |
