so far it looks great to me (just skimmed it). The only thing I'd like them to add to the whole plan is some sort of offical useage meter (not that I'm ever near the cap, just want to know what THEY see). |

I agree with the disclosure of the cap.
I do not agree with the lack of a trustworthy meter and the many other loopholes in the one sided contract in which CC could disconnect a user for whatever reason they want.
A step forward ? Yes. |

I agree with it, and as long as I agree with it I'll keep Comcast.
If I ever have reason to disagree with the terms, I'll just go elsewhere, sans the rants. |

I'm waiting to see if I get any more speed. I don't think I have any heavy downloaders on my node, but if I do, I guess after October 1 they won't be doing as much. Or they might, and then....... We shall see |

Even though satisfaction is split roughly 50-50 right now, I think that the majority of the changes largely make sense, or were already in place before they were officially recorded in this AUP refresh.
Honestly, the 250GB cap is nothing new. It always existed, now they're just being upfront about it. I disagree with it just as much as I did before, but I appreciate the transparency of what they're trying to do here by finally being upfront about this and not imposing a much more ominous glass cap.
I haven't perused the other changes, but there is just so much nonsense in the AUP which nobody ever takes note of (when's the last time you heard somebody get an abuse email because of running a server?) that I really don't care. |

I have no problems with the cap. But they shouldn't suspend your account if you go over 250, they should just throttle it down so you can at least use it. They should also let you see exactly where you stand on your bandwidth usage for the month at all times. |

Powers that be will disagree, as the AUP seems to imply. |

I agree that the cap has always been in place; they're just being open about it now.
I'm sure I don't even come remotely close. I think though that they should give users who do go over the option of paying for the extra usage instead of suspending them. |

I have a real problem with the apparent Network Neutrality issue looming with Comcast limiting my DirecTV VOD downloads by setting such a low cap.
DirecTV's fledgling VOD (which delivers content thru the subscriber's broadband connection, be it Comcast or Verizon or AT&T or cable or DSL) is being harmed by Comcast's decision, since the Hi-Def content IS quite large. I've seen estimates of 5GB per hour of content, so even an hour of HD programing downloaded per evening would put the subscriber in violation. ONE hour of programming per evening is NOT a lot.
This is NOT BitTorrent, nor warez, nor usenet binaries . . . this is perfectly legal usage that will NEVER get past the "oddity" stage of acceptance due to industry acceptance of such low caps as instituted by Comcast, with many cable & DSL services pulling a "me, too" and setting similar caps.
I also have a problem with not having a tool readily available on Comcast's site to access individual subscriber usage. They're gonna set a cap, then cut you off based on "their" measurement but not let you see it? How is THAT better than the previous, much hated "invisible" cap? It's just a different type of invisibility . . . the Comcast "Three-card-Monte"
I can't help but think that these cap decisions by Comcast were made long ago to answer competitor roll-outs of competing television content. |

I Voted H**l no.Never fully agreed to the first one... I know that the 'Caps' and reason for it, is really a marketing strategy of 'Pay More for less'. Not to mention cripple any competition to what Comcast may have to offer. They purposely set a seemingly high amount as to not be too obvious as to their (Comcast's) original intentions. You should know as well as any other that at the rate technology & internet usage is going... a 250 GB cap wont be squat in the not so distant future.
I never used much nor do i p2p. I don't condone those that do 'abuse' bandwidth. But I care not to be one that pays the bleeping price for it either. |

I remember when I metered a total of 32 GB of data one month and was worried I may have done too much, abused the service. Now it turns out people are whining about a 250GB cap? Wake me when it's a 32GB cap. |

I think it's a step in the right direction and 250GB/month is generous. I believe they need to agree to review and raise the caps on a regular basis however, along with providing a reliable meter for a customer to gauge their usage. |

Wil the alloted amount be higher then 250 gigs?Even though they are saying 250 gigs to the public, I would be curious if the real # is higher (say 260 - 280 gigs) to cover discrepancies, overhead, etc.
It's kind of like when you receive a bill saying pay us by this date or we'll cut you off, and a few days, passed the cut off date, your service is still working. |

Maybe he worries about a bad precedent being set ? Maybe he likes to be informed about important Internet trends, as in one of the largest ISP's making an important change of policy ? |

said by EG:Hi sturm. Sometimes I wonder what really is the basis of your incessant anti Comcast motivation and drive here lately ? CC banning one of my locations for 12 months due to bandwidth "abuse". Upset customers tend to have a long memory. The desire for us, the users, getting a clear contract and the service we paid for. Competition at the local level in the Internet access market so that customers have a choice of internet providers and providers have an incentive to offer good valuable service to customers. Good enough for you ? There are about 6 strong CC supporters here that incessantly support CC no matter how wrong they are sometimes in my opinion. I believe it is fair that upset customers should also have a voice. Even by CC's own admission, there are at least 14 thousand people that have been dropped, banned or threatened. Should they not have someone representing their point of view ? |
