Now, I'd believe that they are not included in the bandwidth metering, but there's still a critical part of the 'HSI network' used by Comcast VoIP, namely the part where congestion is hardest to prevent and most common. I agree. All comcast's services come from the same coax cable, and presumably the same pipe to the pedestal in your backyard. If they give you a different colored cable for each of YOUR services, let us know and include a pic too. |

Comcast doesn't run their VOIP on their HSI network, so the caps won't impact their voice service.
Skype, Vonage, etc would count towards your cap.
The FCC are the ones that told Comcast they had to announce the cap, so don;t look for them to save you from the caps. |

Of course it wont affect comcast voice. However, that is just another sneaky tactic to get more people to sign up for their crappy services. "Use VoIP alot? Go over your bandwidth limits? Switch to comcast voice and never have to worry about that again. The only thing you will have to worry about is the high bill and the service never working. *laughter in the background*"

| What about their VoIP service? Do they count that as bandwidth? What about people who use Vonage or any other VoIP service? If they count those VoIP services as bandwidth but not their own VoIP service then they are violating the FCC regulation on targeting specific protocols which they just got fined for violating. And if they count all VoIP traffic as bandwidth, then they are going to seriously hurt themselves as it would make their own customers come a lot closer to going over the limits.
This is going to result in some lawsuits possibily even before it goes into effect. |
