He did tell Bell he wanted to sign up once a spot opened up and they didn't seem to hesitate when he leaned on month-to-month.  Once he's hooked up, he'll reactive his TSI account and dump Bell.  When that happens, he should just provide TSI the cancellation number to make sure he keeps the line yes?]]></description>

We do not however know when the lines will become available and in a typical situation the clients choose to go elsewhere instead of waiting. When my friend talked to them, he was actually told to seek Internet service elsewhere because they couldn't provide it right now.  No mention of a list was made until he talked to Bell.  If they do have a waiting list of their own, is there something specific he should reference when contacting them?  What I have advised him to do for now is as you say, wait until Bell calls him, sign up for Sympatico without a contract (I told him to just stay with Rogers rather than accept a contract from Bell), order TSI after a couple of weeks and just transfer out. Let's say there's a queue of 20 people waiting for that line card, and lucky you, you're #1!  One opens up, and Bell records your refusal.  Now, when you go to Teksavvy, you will be #20 in that line.  The person who is #2 will get it.<br><br>Same way that if you hang up in a support queue, your spot goes to the next person.  When you call back you're normally back in last place.<br><br>You need to be on TS waitlist if you want to get the line for TS right away.  Otherwise, you'll need to accept the Bell offer, wait a month (or, if Bell takes the opportunity to force a contract on you, until the contract is over), cancel the line, take the cancellation number to TS, and they can try to transfer the line.  Be warned that transfers like these often screw up.  Normally, it just means waiting a week while TS co-ordinates with Bell.  In your case a screwup will cost you your line card and will put you in the back of the line again.<br><br>Just saying...]]></description>

If Bell gets any wind that your friend is thinking of defecting they will either not be able to find an available port at the CO or else the speed will suck. <br><br>Sign up on month-to-month with Bell, i.e. DO NOT enter into a contract. (Tell Bell you want to make sure service and speeds are OK first.) Then, after your friend is happy with his DSL speeds switch to TekSavvy. It may cost an extra month's service but the results are more likely to be satisfactory.]]></description>

He asked why given this was a brand new neighbourhood, sufficient capacity to serve all the units wasn't put in and of course, the rep couldn't answer him.  He's put himself on the list and as soon as Bell calls him, he's going to go "Thanks, I'll call TekSavvy now!"<br><br>He got a really good deal from Rogers for Internet and TV since he just moved in so he's going to use that until TSI becomes available. Rather, he is waiting to take someone else's spot.  But when it happens, he would be smart to keep that line forever!  Especially since he is probably then covered by the present tariffs and not the future one Bell wants to shove down ISPs throats that will stop unlimited internet.<br><br>Best to be put on a waitlist, and sign up with Rogers for now.  Make sure you can cancel the Rogers at any time, and when he gets the call from TS, he's good to go!]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/1542239"><b>PXA</b></A> : Hey all.  I'm posting this for my friend because well...he can't get Internet right now and it's ridiculous why.  He just moved from an old part of Ottawa to a brand spanking new townhouse in the suburbs.  He ordered TSI DSL and Home Phone well before his mortgage closed.  He was originally told it would be all hooked up this past Monday.  The phone was but then he was told the DSL would be today.  Late today after still having no service, he called TSI and was told that they had been informed by Bell that his CO was full and that he should seek Internet service elsewhere.  We were both dumbfounded by this response.  If he can't get DSL, his only option is Rogers and given the amount of downloading he does, this isn't an acceptable option.<br><br>We're not sure what to do now.  I may not be 100% on my knowledge of how DSL works but if he can get Home Phone, should he not be able to get DSL as well?
