| MBP Replacement battery suggestions
Well, after a re calibration and PMU reset, it looks like the battery in my MBP is toast. According to CoconutBattery I have only 38% of battery capacity left after only 156 cycles. Pretty disappointing, IMHO.
The rest of my MBP is still going strong, do I guess it's time to pick up a new battery.
Anyone have any suggestions as to the best place to procure a replacement? -- Petty people are disproportionably corrupted by petty power

Read the warranties carefully. -- |

| Nope, no Applecare. (04/06 MBP).
Battery was replaced by Apple in June of 06 via recall.

First laptop I've ever had a battery failure on, but I've never kept a laptop this long before... Just curious - did you receive a refurbished/used battery or a brand new one? My late 2006 MB C2D had a battery failure with very few cycles. I began having wireless problems at 10.4.9 or .10, so at that point it never went out of the house because wireless was useless on battery power. Hence the low cycles - it became tethered permanently to the AC brick.
My extended AC got me a battery but it was obviously a refurb: wouldn't charge to its full capacity from day one and looked like it was pulled off another MB and buffed, packed and shipped.
The apple guy said they usually don't give battery replacements after the first year - even with Apple care. He thought perhaps my wireless problems were related (yeah, right: dead cell in the battery caused the wifi to suck even before the dead cell), so he sent me the battery. Obviously, it didn't fix the wireless, that came later with a software patch. -- |

| It's sad to see so many posts about this lately. Someone should make an informative post and have it stickied.
Apple has been very liberal about battery replacements on batteries showing defects with a relatively low cycle count. A battery failing at 156 cycles should not really be tolerated and Apple is pretty aware of this.
Call the support phone number, explain the situation, and they are more likely than not to send you a replacement overnight. |

I was told I'd be charged for a service call when I called about my MBP battery dying. You're probably better off taking it to the Apple Store. I got a new battery from them with no hassles. It's been working great. -- Iraq Coalition Deaths | bobrk |
