| reply to ajwees41 Try this
Step 1: Go under internet explorer options
Select Manage Add-ons...insure the Java Plugin is enabled
If the Above is true
Step 2:
go to Start then Run
In the Run box type
regsvr32 ssv.dll and press enter
this should solve the issue as it most likely the sun java dll is not registered correctly on the account in question
if not you must uninstall and then reinstall java |

Right-click the javacpl.exe and then select "Run as administrator".
Can you then select IE? |

1 edit | auggy I found it and the control panel applet says it's enabled, but the it still wil not let me play any java games. The only thing that seems to work is if I log in as administrator.
ssv.dll is missing and I can't uninstall java for some strange reason. |

1 edit | You could consider running the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility and remove the Windows Installer configuration information for Java, then reinstall Java:
»support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility is also mentioned in the following link:
»java.com/en/download/help/5000010800.xml |

auggy Premium,Mod join:2001-12-24 Brockville, ON 1 edit | What is the exact message you get when you try to register the ssv.dll?
Also, after getting Java installed did you then uninstall Java and reinstall Java? |

| here is a screenshot of the error |

auggy Premium,Mod join:2001-12-24 Brockville, ON | I believe what you are seeing there is normal. The dll may not be able to be registered.
But the original problem exists which is that Java does not work in a "standard user" account?
But it works in an "administrator" account? |

| Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Java?
Also, you may find in any newly created account Java will work. You could try creating a new user account and see if Java works.
That may indicate a problem with the existing Java installation.
Also, since the problem started recently have you considered using System Restore? |
|
ajwees41 Premium join:2002-05-10 Omaha, NE | yes I tried system restore with no results. I might just make a new account when I get time since my emails are stored in the same account it will take time. |
