Just another point of information. Because of this thread, I setup an automatic job to track my IP address. I first recorded my IP address on 8/25/08 at about noon and it hasn't changed since then.

According to my router, the lease does expire every eight hours. While that seems a bit short, I assume that's so that Charter can reallocate blocks of IPs as needed between areas without having to wait too long for a block to be completely free.

I don't run a server that's available from the internet, but I do have a home server (behind by router/firewall) that retrieves info from the internet on a regular (several times an hour) basis. This might be what's keeping my IP constant - my connection has regular usage and my address is renewed as soon as it expires.
