| reply to Anonymous_ Re: worth getting another card for SLI?
RA2 is a completely 2D game. The power of your graphics card has nothing to do with it getting lagey. That's your system having issues in general.
Your money would be better spent buying a new graphics card. A single 8800GT which only costs 110 bucks vastly outperforms even two 7800GTX's in SLI. You may also want to think about building a new system in general. That old opteron is your major bottle neck right now. |

You only need a 1.2kw PSU if you're going to be running 2+ GTX 280s. |

If you really want to play games why would you waste your money on something like a bluray drive? Why would do you need a laser printer for gaming? Water cooling? Give me a break dude. If you really want the newer games to run faster you are going to need a new system - But half the overpriced crap you have on your list isn't needed - nor will it enhance the gameplay experiance of any games. A single ATI 4850 which outperforms an 8800GT and only costs 180 bucks only needs a 500w PSU at most. Even including the price of a new monitor, you wouldn't have to spend more then 1500 for a new system that will play any game with maximum settings.
But I suppose if you want crap like a bluray drive and a laser printer (huh?) you'll be waiting a while. |

Then sell your current 7800 to pretty much make up the difference, and you're back to only spending $40.
But doing that you'll end up with a much better graphics cards than 7800 SLI. Of course that is dependent on you being able to come up with the extra funds. You can usually find the 8800GT ~$100 A/R so if you can manage like $130 up front, it would be ok. You could then get a $30 rebate and sell your old card for ~$50-60. -- HABYA HABYA HABYA TEAR DOWN THE HEMP STALKS EAT UP THE OLD MAN AND WOMAN AND CARRY OFF THE LITTLE GIRL MAY YOU DIE ALONE |
