Why do you need that though? You can easily build a highly functional gaming system with most of those peripherals for way less than 3k.

You only need a 1.2kw PSU if you're going to be running 2+ GTX 280s.

You don't even need a 1.2kw PSU to run two GTX 280's, a 800w from a quality manufacturer would be just fine.

Obviously a new system would cost well over 3 grand if you decided to get all that crap. If you really want to play games why would you waste your money on something like a bluray drive? Why would do you need a laser printer for gaming? Water cooling? Give me a break dude. If you really want the newer games to run faster you are going to need a new system - But half the overpriced crap you have on your list isn't needed - nor will it enhance the gameplay experiance of any games. A single ATI 4850 which outperforms an 8800GT and only costs 180 bucks only needs a 500w PSU at most. Even including the price of a new monitor, you wouldn't have to spend more then 1500 for a new system that will play any game with maximum settings.

But I suppose if you want crap like a bluray drive and a laser printer (huh?) you'll be waiting a while.

If you can really find one for that price then I don't see why not. Don't expect much improvement, however.

In my opinion it would be best to look for an 8800GT on sale, spend an extra $50 to gain a lot better performance. Then sell your current 7800 to pretty much make up the difference, and you're back to only spending $40.

But doing that you'll end up with a much better graphics cards than 7800 SLI. Of course that is dependent on you being able to come up with the extra funds. You can usually find the 8800GT ~$100 A/R so if you can manage like $130 up front, it would be ok. You could then get a $30 rebate and sell your old card for ~$50-60.
