| [HN7000S] HN7000S Uplink* Issue with the HN7000s
For the last 3 weeks havnt been able to connect to my game becouse the modem keeps droping the signle about every 2 mins. Now this isnt only happing with my game. Happens with outlook while tryign to read emails or anytime i try to use my online banking web sites i have time to log into the site and once main page is loaded i can click on any other link there and it will come back that the secion has timed out please log back in. this seems to happen with any site that i have to log into and its a secure site, allso does the same no matter what time aday it is. on main page for modem if i click problem shooting and click on pages load slow it allways comes up with Uplink Queuing and RTT dont remmeber off hand but in the advanced seting theres a place that shows you hour by hour of these errors for like 12 hours and for the last 3 weeks ever hour there is a red X in them to colums (Uplink Queuing and RTT) When this all started everythign worked fine one night when got home from work next day it was like this. Allso not sure if this is supposted to be off but my turbo page is currently disabled was reading on a diffrent post about changing the server that unlink used. my connection is really slow and is allways that way i can switch over to dialup and browes faster. heres info on modem

allways stay the same never get a error really talked to tech support for over 3 hours got no where keep trying to tell me it was on my end so i pulled harddrive did a clean install and updated all micro. updates and still having the same problem. I'm on the pro-plus plan and cant seem to download anything faster then 40-50ish kb no matter where, what site/server i try to download from and its ifs a big file at all it will stop me from trying to download it withing like 2-3 mins into downloading it with a timed out message from server. With all this stuff coming out about comcast might be they trying to make it so you can only use your servic to surf the web no downloading much at all or let alone upload. but if anyone have any info tip[s i could try please let me know |

| I had a 7000s and just recently the 9000 modem on a new account. I tried like hell in the last 2 months to find another service but to no avail. Even dialup doesn't work as the phone lines are horrific and I being the last phone customer down the line (new 20 lot trailer park moved in ahead of me) had my phone /modem signal ruined. I've been experienceing the same issues you did with my 7000s and 9000 behaves exactly the same way (just doesn't display the same reports anymore showing that the service is hoseing you. Since I came back to Hughesnet last thursday I've been on the phone with their tech support every night complaining about game packet loss, https logon issues, downloading individual files via ftp from websites. I think the Hughes is only catering to their large customers i.e. Gov't, Big businesses who pay millions a year. Also a majority of the new Spaceway 3 bandwidth has been given to TV stations. I've been reading through the grapevine that in the past Wildblue and now Hughesnet has moved game packets for World of Warcraft and others that we could play to the last in line que. I'm not sure if this sort of bandwidth shaping is legal but I'm mad as hell about it. There are large parts of the day now I cannot logon Warcraft at all. When I am on there is also large blocks of time the latency goes up to 22 seconds while I can ping otherwebsites with a command window and still show 600-900 ms pings. What gives?? THinking it might be blizzards fault I asked others in game if they are having problems and obviously no one else is. Just me. I asked if there were any Hughesnet players online and no one responded (guess they can't play). If there are any lawyers reading this I would love to know if I have any rights in court. Ending this post I just got off the phone with tech support (30+minutes) and got yet another issue forwarded to level tier 4. I feel completely horrific that I felt I needed internet badly enough to pay another 860 to get back online with the hopes that it could work. I was sadly mistaken and am now out a few thousand including monthly costs over the next two years or at least 400 to cancel early. Its a revolting feeling of regret I dont wish on anyone.

| reply to Boni said by Boni :but if anyone have any info tip[s i could try please let me know When did you first get your HN7000S ProPlus account? How long after that did this problem arise? Do you know what the HughesNet Fair Access Policy (FAP) is?
Using HTTPS is slower by design, since secure packets automatically bypass the HughesNet HPEP (WebAccel) servers. But you may be able to get rid of some of the red Xs by doing a turbo page tear down. Go to »192.168.0.1/fs/advanced/advanced.html and look at the left hand column. Click on TurboPage, then on Advanced CFG. Then click the "Tear Down TurboPage Connection" button that appears on the right.
While you're in the Advanced section, it wouldn't hurt to force range the modem either. Close the TurboPage dropdown, then click Installation. Click Force Ranging, and a pop-up window will appear. Click the button in the pop-up window. Wait till you see TX8 appear in that window, then close it. Now see if your browsing improves

| reply to Boni I'm having trouble concluding whether your priority is online gaming - or pursuing a higher education. But anyway, 1. what was tech supports response when you asked them why your TurboPage was disabled? 2. what is your transmission error percentage? 3. what are your last ACP (isolation) validation/revalidation numbers?

1 edit | reply to Boni 198.168.0.1 is the address of your HN7000S. 69.19.14.10 is the address of a specific HughesNet proxy server (they have many). Using the former means your modem will determine which (of those many) proxy servers will be used for any given connection. Using the latter, locks you into that proxy server only.
You have to calculate transmission errors yourself. Go to 192.168.0.1 and click on Transmission Info. Divide Failed transmissions by the sum of Successful Transmission AND Failed Transmissions. Multiply the result by 100. The product is your transmission error percentage. Hughes considers under 1% (0.01) as "Good". Between 1% and 5% you're "Marginal". Over 5% is "Bad". A typical number is 0.002 (2/10 of 1%) or less. Mine for example, is 0.0004 (4/100 of 1%) over the last two weeks.
In remedying your connection issue, you should aggressively pursue the fact that your TurboPage remains disabled. Hammer that into tech support until they come up with a solution.
